Der Standort München setzt mit einem Bienenschutzprojekt ein Zeichen für die Artenvielfalt.
Das neueste „Produkt“ am Standort München wird von winzig kleinen Mitarbeitern hergestellt. Seit diesem Frühjahr sind auf dem Dach des Produktionsgebäudes zwölf Bienenvölker mit rund 30.000 Bienen beheimatet, die von einem professionellen Imker betreut werden.
Die Idee zu dem Projekt hatte Dominik Büren. Der Prozessingenieur war auf Bienenschutzprojekte aufmerksam geworden, bei denen Unternehmen Bienenvölkern an ihrem Standort ein Zuhause geben und recherchierte nach regionalen Anbietern.
Wir engagieren uns als Unternehmen für eine nachhaltige Gesellschaft. Dazu gehört auch, ökologische Verantwortung zu übernehmen.
Um den Standort energieeffizienter und umweltfreundlicher aufzustellen, ersetzte VDW beispielsweise im vergangenen Jahr die bisherige Klimaanlage durch eine neue, kältemittelfreie und deutlich stromsparendere Anlage.
„Mit dem Bienenprojekt setzt VDW ein Zeichen für die Bedeutung der biologischen Artenvielfalt und Nachhaltigkeit.“ Pestizide, Monokulturen und Krankheiten sind Faktoren, die den Bienenbestand – vor allem den der Wildbienen – weltweit bedrohen.
Sobald sich die Bienenvölker an ihrem neuen Standort eingewöhnt haben, sollen auch informative Touren für die VDW Mitarbeiter angeboten werden. „Vielen Menschen ist zum Beispiel gar nicht bewusst, dass ein Großteil der Nutzpflanzenarten auf bestäubende Insekten angewiesen ist“, erklärt Dominik Büren. Der hauseigene VDW Honig darf künftig nicht nur von den Mitarbeitern, sondern auch von Kunden oder Schulungsteilnehmern probiert werden. Im Juli konnte die erste Honigernte durch den betreuenden Imker verarbeitet werden, künftig soll zweimal im Jahr geerntet werden. Dominik Büren: „Unser VDW Honig ist in dem schönen Glas mit unserem Unternehmenslogo ein tolles Präsent.“
