Handball-Torfrau Pauline Radke verlässt die Flames zum Saisonende und wird zur Sportlerin des Jahres nominiert.
In diesem Jahr wurde Pauline Radke erstmals zur Sportlerin des Jahres nominiert. Für die gebürtige Rostockerin, die seit 2012 für die Flames spielt, ist die Nominierung ein schöner Schlusspunkt einer Handballkarriere. Denn die HSG Bensheim/Auerbach muss in der kommenden Saison auf eine ihrer Leistungsträgerinnen verzichten. Im Sommer wird die Flames-Torfrau, die zu den besten Torhüterinnen der Bundesliga zählt, ihre Handballschuhe an den Nagel hängen. Nach Karrierestationen bei den Rostock Dolphins, dem HSC 2000 Magdeburg und dem SC Greven 09 spielte sie sechs Jahre für die Flames, mit denen sie in der Saison 2012/13 und der Saison 2016/17 den Aufstieg in die Erste Bundesliga schaffte. „Der zweimalige Aufstieg mit der Mannschaft, das waren für mich unvergessliche Erlebnisse in meiner Sportlerlaufbahn“, sagt sie rückblickend.
Mit Pauline Radke verlässt eine Top-Spielerin die Mannschaft, die mit Spitzenleistungen, Leidenschaft und Teamgeist eine große Vorbildfunktion hat.
Als Leistungssportlerin war für Pauline Radke bislang fünfmal pro Woche Training Pflicht, jetzt will sie sich stärker auf ihre berufliche Karriere konzentrieren und ihre Arbeitszeiten bei Dentsply Sirona als Teamassistentin in der Produktion von Röntgengeräten erhöhen. Und in Zukunft bleibt dann auch mehr Zeit für die privaten Interessen der Wahl-Lorscherin: Fotografieren gehört ebenso dazu wie Konzertbesuche und Reisen – London und Spanien stehen dabei als Erstes auf ihrer Wunschliste. Und auch für Besuche bei der Familie im 700 Kilometer entfernten Rostock wird Pauline Radke künftig öfter Gelegenheit haben. Bei den Heimspielen der Flames dürfte man sie aber auch in Zukunft auf der Tribüne der Weststadthalle sehen, wenn sie ihren (dann ehemaligen) Teamkolleginnen die Daumen drückt.
