Die Lösung lieferte eine Software-Technologie, mit der man Bilder von Gesichtern manipulieren kann, indem man das Gesicht künstlich altern lässt.
Was sind aus Ihrer Sicht die größten Herausforderungen in der Zahnmedizin der Zukunft?
Dr. Joachim Pfeiffer: Wir stehen vor der ständigen Herausforderung, die Kosten zu senken und dabei trotzdem die Qualität der Versorgung aufrechtzuerhalten beziehungsweise zu verbessern. Der alternden Bevölkerung kostengünstige und hoch entwickelte Lösungen zu bieten, sehen wir als Schwierigkeit und gleichzeitig als Chance an.
Dr. Andrew Lichkus: Eine weitere Schwierigkeit ist es, innovative minimalinvasive und effektivere Behandlungen in einem angemessenen Zeitraum zu entwickeln. Wenn wir die Effizienz verbessern wollen, brauchen wir zusätzliche klinische Studien oder Tests. Außerdem müsste der Zugang zur Zahnbehandlung verbessert werden, indem man effektive, aber einfachere und günstigere Behandlungsoptionen schafft..
Wie wird sich die Dentaltechnologie kurz- bis mittelfristig verändern?
Dr. Joachim Pfeiffer: Die Digitalisierung revolutioniert die Dentalindustrie, und dieser Trend wird sicher anhalten. Er hat bereits einen großen Einfluss auf die Bereiche Imaging, CAD/CAM, Orthodontics und natürlich auf das Praxismanagement. Die digitalen Innovationen werden auch Neuentwicklungen bei den Materialien vorantreiben, wie bei Zirkonia. Mit diesem Werkstoff lässt sich zum Beispiel eine Krone so vergrößern, dass sie beim Schmelzen auf die gewünschte Größe zurückschrumpft.
Dr. Andrew Lichkus: Zukünftig wird sich die Arbeit mit verschiedensten Materialien wie Polymeren, Keramik und Metallen verbessern und die damit verbundenen Verarbeitungstechniken. Dadurch entstehen nachhaltigere und ästhetischere Produkte. Der 3D-Druck wird mit der für diese Technologie maßgeschneiderten Materialien verstärkt zum Einsatz kommen. So können wir anspruchsvolle Dentalprodukte direkt drucken. Verbesserungen bei biologischen Materialien werden den Aufbau und sogar die Regeneration von Weichgewebe ermöglichen.
