Wie können Mitarbeiter die Wachstumsinitiativen unterstützen?
Don Casey: Konkret in den Alltag übertragen heißt das: Lassen Sie uns den Kunden ganzheitlich betrachten, nicht nur von einem Geschäftsbereich aus. Ich erläutere das gerne an einem Beispiel. Auf der World Summit Tour der SBU Implants in Shanghai unterhielt ich mich mit einem dort sehr bekannten Zahnarzt. Er verwendet unsere Geräte, aber nicht unsere Verbrauchsmaterialien. Ich fragte ihn, ob er nicht in Erwägung ziehen würde, mit Dentsply Sirona als komplettem Partner zusammenzuarbeiten. Seine Antwort war: „Es hat mich nie jemand gefragt.“ Wir müssen immer darüber nachdenken, was wir als Unternehmen insgesamt anbieten können.
Sie haben auf Town Hall Meetings an verschiedenen Standorten mit Mitarbeitern sprechen können. Was hat Sie hier besonders beeindruckt?
Don Casey: Es ging hier oft um berufliche Entwicklungen und Zielsetzungen. Wir müssen sicherstellen, dass wir als Belegschaft auf das von uns erwartete Wachstum vorbereitet sind. Dazu ist es wichtig, dass jeder einzelne Mitarbeiter seinen Platz im Unternehmen kennt, von dem aus er sich und seine Leistungen für das Unternehmen weiterentwickeln kann.
Regelmäßig stattfindende persönliche Gespräche mit dem Vorgesetzten über die Ziele helfen dabei, sich über die jeweiligen Erwartungen klar zu werden. Einer unserer Mitarbeiter fragte mich, wie er besser in Kontakt zu Führungskräften kommen könne. Das ist eine für die Stärkung des Engagements im Unternehmen sehr relevante Frage. Es muss bei den Führungskräften selbst beginnen.
Ich denke, dass ein guter Anfang mit der DS Community gemacht worden ist, wo wir über Yammer interagieren können. Ein weiterer wichtiger Schritt war unsere globale Mitarbeiterbefragung. Hier konnten unsere Mitarbeiter eine ehrliche Einschätzung dazu abgeben, was funktioniert und was nicht. Es liegt an uns im Management, genau zuzuhören.
Wie interpretieren Sie die ersten Ergebnisse der globalen Mitarbeiterbefragung?
Don Casey: Zunächst habe ich mich gefreut, dass über drei Viertel unserer Mitarbeiter an der Umfrage teilgenommen haben, und ich hoffe, dass wir im nächsten Jahr diese Teilnahmequote um 10 bis 15 Prozent steigern können. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass nur etwa 25 Prozent unserer Mitarbeiter sehr engagiert sind, und das ist für mich enttäuschend. Dennoch bin ich sicher, dass sich das Ergebnis verbessern wird, wenn es uns gelingt, eine gemeinsame Vision zu entwickeln und gemeinsam auf diese hinzuarbeiten.
