Mitarbeiter engagieren sich für bessere Mundgesundheit vor Ort
Die letzte Ausgabe der Spotlight zeigte einen Überblick über die Corporate Social Responsibility-Initiativen des Unternehmens in 2018. Dieser Artikel stellt zwei Projekte in Belgien und Taiwan vor, in denen sich DS Mitarbeiter derzeit engagieren.
Als internationales Unternehmen mit Mitarbeitern und Kunden auf der ganzen Welt engagiert sich Dentsply Sirona für die Entwicklung, Gesundheit und das Wohlergehen seiner Mitarbeiter und der Gemeinschaften, in denen sie leben und arbeiten. Diese Aussage ist als fester Baustein in die Corporate Social Responsibility des Unternehmens integriert. An jedem Standort haben Mitarbeiter die Möglichkeit, eigene Ideen zu erarbeiten, wie sie sich für ihren Standort oder ihre Region einsetzen wollen.

Zahnmedizinische Versorgung im Gesundheitszentrum der Gemeinde
Im Jahr 2018 begann Pieter De Ceuninck, Director Corporate Software R&D (jetzt Digital Product Group), nach Möglichkeiten zu suchen, wie sich Dentsply Sirona in Belgien für gemeinnützige Projekte vor Ort einsetzen kann. „Ziel war es, ein Projekt zu finden, das die Mitarbeiter wieder mit dem medizinischen Aspekt ihrer Arbeit in Verbindung bringen kann“, so Pieter De Ceuninck. Das Unternehmen nahm daraufhin Kontakt mit der lokalen Non-Profit-Organisation De Central in Leuven auf.
De Central ist ein Gesundheitszentrum, das sich um Menschen mit begrenztem Zugang zu medizinischer Versorgung kümmert und sich auf gesundheitliche Aufklärung, Prävention und Grundversorgung konzentriert. Für den Allgemeinmediziner vor Ort ist es nun viel einfacher, seine Patienten an den Zahnarzt zu überweisen, da Dentsply Sirona die Einrichtung einer Zahnarztpraxis im selben Haus unterstützt hat.
Als sich die Nachricht von der Zusammenarbeit verbreitete, schlossen sich dem Projekt schnell weitere Kollegen an, darunter Richard Althelmig, Commercial Director Benelux. Die Benelux-Unternehmensorganisation verpflichtete sich, alle Rohstoffe zu liefern, die für fünf Jahre benötigt werden, um die dringendste Versorgung – typischerweise präventiv und restaurativ – für einen Vollzeitzahnarzt kostenlos zu gewährleisten. Zusätzlich unterstützt Dentsply Sirona die Entwicklung einer Kommunikationskampagne, um mehr lokale Zahnärzte für die Teilnahme an dem Projekt zu gewinnen. Ein regelmäßiger Zugang zu einer zahnärztlichen Behandlung wird vor allem die medizinische Versorgung von De Central-Patienten mit besonderen Bedürfnissen verbessern.

Auch die Mitarbeiter vor Ort haben die Möglichkeit, direkt zur Mundgesundheit der Patienten beizutragen, indem sie Kleinkinder und Eltern über die zahnärztliche Grundversorgung aufklären. Darüber hinaus setzen sie ihre individuellen Fähigkeiten beispielsweise beim Übersetzen, grafischer Gestaltung oder der Logistikplanung ein. An speziellen Vorsorgetagen für Patienten ist im Besonderen ehrenamtliches Engagement gefragt.
Kampagne zur Förderung der Mundhygiene in Taiwan
Trotz guter medialer Kampagnen durch die Krankenkassen wird die Bedeutung der Mundhygiene in der Öffentlichkeit oft übersehen. Die Kollegen von Dentsply Sirona Taiwan stellten fest, dass dies auf mangelnde Aufklärung zum Thema zurückzuführen ist und erarbeiteten daher eine Kampagne zur Sensibilisierung.
Das Team entschied, dass die Kampagne an 88 Community Universities (kommunale Bildungsinstitutionen) in Taiwan stattfinden sollte, an denen die meisten Teilnehmer der Lehrveranstaltungen im Schnitt etwa 40 bis 60 Jahre alt sind. Dentsply Sirona stellte den Referenten Vortragsmaterialien und jeweils Zahnbürsten oder Zahnpasta zur Verfügung.
Im Jahr 2018 wurden insgesamt 18 Projekte mit durchschnittlich 50 Teilnehmern durchgeführt, und für dieses Jahr sind 20 weitere geplant, basierend auf dem positiven Feedback der Teilnehmer.
