Behandlung nach Maß: 211 Sinius Einheiten für die Otago University
Die Ausbildung der nächsten Generation von Zahnärzten und Zahntechnikern ist wichtig, um weltweit die Mundgesundheit zu verbessern. Die Otago University entschied sich für Dentsply Sirona als Partner für die Ausstattung ihres neuen klinischen Zentrums.
Die Stadt Dunedin liegt an der Südostküste der Region Otago, umgeben von den Überresten eines erloschenen Vulkans. Dunedin ist die zweitgrößte Stadt auf Neuseelands Südinsel und beheimatet die University of Otago, die älteste Universität des Landes. Die Institution ist derzeit dabei, ihre Zahnmedizinische Fakultät durch ein groß angelegtes Zwei-Phasen-Projekt in Höhe von 130 Millionen Neuseeland-Dollar (76,7 Millionen Euro) auszubauen. In der kürzlich abgeschlossenen ersten Phase wurde eine hochmoderne vierstöckige Einrichtung mit CAD/CAM-Technologie, einer Diagnose- und Entnahmeanlage, einer Röntgenstation und einer beträchtlichen Anzahl von Behandlungsräumen errichtet, die sowohl den Studierenden als auch den 70.000 Patienten der Universitätsklinik zur Verfügung stehen soll.
Es war eine unglaubliche Erfahrung, an diesem Projekt für die University of Otago zu arbeiten. Wir konnten den Kunden nicht nur die Ausrüstung zur Verfügung stellen, die nach ihren Spezifikationen angefertigt wurde. Wir stellten auch das Fachwissen, das ihnen hilft, ihre Vision einer erstklassigen Klinik zu verwirklichen, die so konzipiert ist wie keine andere zahnmedizinische Fakultät der Welt. Die Idee, die Patientenerfahrung in den Vordergrund zu rücken, passte natürlich zu unserem eigenen Unternehmensgrundsatz, den Kunden in den Fokus zu stellen.“
Im Jahr 2018 veröffentlichte die University of Otago eine Ausschreibung für die Ausstattung ihrer neuen Zahnklinik. Die Universität wollte etwas Einzigartiges unter den universitären Lehreinrichtungen schaffen. Die Institution sollte ganz auf die Bedürfnisse der Patienten zugeschnitten werden. Dank des International Special Clinic Solutions Teams, das mit seinem branchenweit einzigartigen Profil in der Lage ist, eine ganzheitliche Lösung anzubieten und alle erforderlichen Geräte bereitzustellen, fiel die Wahl auf Dentsply Sirona. Peter Rössling, Director International Special Clinic Solutions, reiste mehrmals von Bensheim nach Dunedin, um die spezifischen Vorstellungen des Hochschulteams zu verstehen und es vor Ort zu beraten.
Die neue Einrichtung sollte mit 211 neuen Sinius Behandlungseinheiten sowie einer bariatrischen, für stark übergewichtige Patienten ausgelegten Einheit ausgestattet werden, die sehr spezifische Anforderungen erfüllen mussten. Außerdem wurde eine Verknüpfung mit dem neuseeländischen System der elektronischen Patientenakte eingerichtet. Die Einheiten wurden speziell auf die Anforderungen der Fakultät für Zahnmedizin zugeschnitten, um auch die Kieferorthopädie, Pädiatrie und andere spezialisierte Behandlungsmethoden zu ermöglichen. Die Wahl fiel schlussendlich auf die Sinius Behandlungseinheiten. Dentsply Sirona lieferte zudem die gesamte Geräteausstattung für die Klinik. Neben den Behandlungseinheiten kommen 2.000 Instrumente und 2D- und 3D-Röntgengeräte zum Einsatz.
Bevor dieser Großauftrag in Bensheim in die Spezialanfertigung ging, wurde der Prototyp eines Behandlungsplatzes intensiv getestet, um die optimale Funktionsweise für Mitarbeiter und Studierende sicherzustellen. Denn die Behandlungseinheiten sollten sowohl in Lehrveranstaltungen als auch in einem regulären Behandlungsumfeld zum Einsatz kommen.
Der Grundriss der neuen Einrichtung kommt Patienten und Ärzten gleichermaßen zugute.
Innovative Behandlungseinheiten mit ausgezeichneter Funktionalität
Jede Sinius Behandlungseinheit verfügt über einen integrierten Computer, der es ermöglicht, Patientenakten sowie die Ergebnisse von digitalen Röntgenaufnahmen und Scans auf dem Bildschirm anzuzeigen. Ein computergestütztes selbstreinigendes System erleichtert eine konsequente Einhaltung der Standards zur Infektionsprävention. Die Unit-Management-Software VIONEX überwacht die Einheiten zusätzlich auf Fehler, sodass auf notwendige Wartungsarbeiten schnell reagiert werden kann.
Die neue Einrichtung verfügt über die Infrastruktur und Ausrüstung, um mit elektronischen Patientenakten zu arbeiten, die an das neuseeländische Dentalsoftware-System Titanium angeschlossen sind. Bisher wurden in der Universitätsklinik nur Patientennamen, Kontaktdaten und Finanzunterlagen elektronisch geführt. Alle anderen Daten, die für die Fallbeurteilung und Behandlung nötig sind, standen bislang nur auf Papier zur Verfügung. Elektronische Aufzeichnungen sind nicht nur aus Sicht des klinischen Behandlungsalltags effizient, sondern auch für den akademischen Lehrbetrieb: So lässt sich sicherstellen, dass Studierende mit einer Vielzahl von Patienten und Fällen konfrontiert werden und eine umfassende Ausbildung gewährleistet ist. Auch die Patienten profitieren von der zusätzlichen Transparenz, denn sie können die Kosten ihrer Behandlung einsehen und diese im Vorfeld besprechen. Der Datenschutz ist selbstverständlich jederzeit gewährleistet.
Der Grundriss des neuen Gebäudes ist einladend und offen und bietet den Patienten trotzdem genug Privatsphäre. Das Konzept ist darauf ausgerichtet, den Patienten eine bestmögliche Erfahrung zu bieten und gleichzeitig eine stärkere Zusammenarbeit innerhalb der zahnmedizinischen Fakultät und über die verschiedenen Fachbereiche hinaus zu ermöglichen.
Dentsply Sirona hat das Projekt von der ersten Phase bis zur Eröffnung begleitet.
Installation von 211 Behandlungseinheiten – eine logistische Meisterleistung
Die neuen Behandlungseinheiten sind in den unteren drei Stockwerken der neuen Anlage angesiedelt. Auf der ersten Etage befinden sich spezialisierte Arbeitsplätze, während in der zweiten und dritten Etage die Behandlungsräume für den regulären Klinikbetrieb und den Lehrbetrieb eingerichtet sind. Im Vorfeld hatte Dentsply Sirona zwei Expertengruppen eines erfahrenen Medizintechnikunternehmens aus Otago nach Bensheim geholt, um sie für die Installation der Behandlungseinheiten zu schulen. Als der Eröffnungstag näherrückte, flogen technische Experten des Special Project Teams aus Deutschland für zwei Monate nach Neuseeland. Dentsply Sirona schulte auch eine Gruppe von Super-Usern, um die volle Leistungsfähigkeit der hochmodernen Behandlungseinheiten und der dazugehörigen Geräte sicherzustellen. Diese Super-User führten dann Trainingseinheiten für andere Mitarbeiter sowie Studierende durch.
Für Dentsply Sirona war dies ein außergewöhnliches Projekt, sowohl hinsichtlich der Größe als auch möglicher langfristiger Auswirkungen: Die Mitarbeiter und Studierenden der Zahnklinik führen jährlich etwa 76.000 Behandlungen durch. Die Bereitstellung modernster Geräte, die eine bestmögliche Patientenversorgung ermöglichen und gleichzeitig eine qualitativ hochwertige Ausbildung für die nächste Generation von Zahnärzten sicherstellen, ist ein lohnendes Unterfangen. Mit Blick in die Zukunft will das International Special Clinic Solutions Team die Zusammenarbeit mit der University of Otago als Vorbild nutzen, um zahnmedizinische Fakultäten weltweit bei der Modernisierung ihrer Einrichtungen und der konsequenten Ausrichtung an den Bedürfnissen der Patienten zu unterstützen.
