Grenzen überwinden, Hoffnung schenken
Wellspect unterstützt Hilfsprojekt in Tansania mit Spenden.
Im Rollstuhl auf rund 3.000 Metern Höhe: Der Verein Haydom Friends hat mit einem Charity Hike auf den Mount Meru Menschen in den Mittelpunkt gerückt, die durch eine Erkrankung auf den Rollstuhl angewiesen sind. Wellspect ist dem Verein verbunden: So verzichtete das Team in Elz im vergangenen Jahr darauf, zu Weihnachten Kundengeschenke zu verschicken und überwies stattdessen eine Spende von 7.000 Euro an Haydom-Friends e.V.
Der Verein hilft Kindern, die mit Hydrocephalus (Wassereinlagerungen im Kopf) und Spina bifida (Wirbelspalt am Rücken) geboren werden. Bei den Patienten sind durch die Nervenschädigung des Rückenmarks oft Mobilität sowie Blasen- und Darmfunktion beeinträchtigt.
Haydom Friends wurde von der Hamburger Ärztin Dr. Theresa Harbauer im Jahr 2009 ins Leben gerufen. „Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf sind wir auf das Projekt von Frau Dr. Harbauer aufmerksam geworden. Für uns war schnell klar, dass wir dieses unterstützen möchten. Aus diesem Grund haben wir uns dazu entschlossen, neben Produktspenden auch unsere Weihnachtsspende an den Verein zu überreichen“, erklärt Christoph Kimling, Market Development Manager DACH. Dank Spenden können jährlich bis zu 2.000 betroffene Kinder operiert und stationär behandelt werden. Der Verein will künftig auch verstärkt Eltern in der Katheteranwendung schulen.
