Sie kamen mit umfassenden Kenntnissen der Gesundheits- und Dentalbranche zu Dentsply Sirona. Wie haben Sie das Unternehmen in den vergangenen Monaten erlebt, was ist Ihnen besonders aufgefallen?
Nick Alexos: Ich habe mehrere Jahre Erfahrung in der Dentalbranche und daher ein tiefes Verständnis für den Markt entwickelt. Seit ich bei Dentsply Sirona bin, habe ich versucht, mit so vielen Menschen wie möglich persönlich zu sprechen. Am meisten aufgefallen ist mir das außerordentliche Engagement unserer Mitarbeiter für die Produkte und dafür, dem Kunden die besten Lösungen anzubieten.
Mit erhöhten Marktrisiken umzugehen, ist ein Erfolgsfaktor in Bezug auf die Erreichung der Unternehmensziele. Wie ist Dentsply Sirona hier global aufgestellt?
Nick Alexos: Das Wichtigste für uns sind kompetente Mitarbeiter sowie ein aufrichtiges Verhältnis zueinander, eine gute Ausbildung und eine offene Kommunikation, bei der sich jeder in jeder Situation wohlfühlt. Unsere Mitarbeiter sind die Augen und Ohren des Unternehmens und sollten auch auf Risiken achten. Entscheidend für den Umgang mit Risiken ist zudem der Einsatz effizienter und sicherer ITSysteme.
Gibt es ein besonderes regulatorisches oder steuerliches Risiko, auf das Sie sich am meisten konzentrieren oder das Ihre Besorgnis weckt?
Nick Alexos: Ich sehe kein einzelnes Risiko, um das ich mich aus regulatorischer oder steuerlicher Sicht sorge. Es ist richtig, dass Währungen volatil sind, sich Steuersätze ändern und immer neue Vorschriften zu beachten sind. Aktuell wären hier vor allem jene zum Datenschutz zu nennen. Auf diese Umstände muss stets ein zentrales Augenmerk gelegt werden. Die gute Nachricht ist, dass sich viele Mitarbeiter dieser Dinge bewusst sind und sich damit gründlich auseinandersetzen.
Anfang dieses Jahres wurde eine wichtige Änderung in der internen Revision vorgenommen. Damit wird das Unternehmen Ernst and Young die Durchführung von Audits bei Dentsply Sirona überwachen. Was ist der Hintergrund für diese Veränderung?
Nick Alexos: Ich finde, dass die Aufgabe der internen Revision nicht nur darin bestehen sollte, Risiken zu erkennen, sondern auch operative Chancen im Unternehmen. Ernst & Young, eine globale Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, mit der ich sehr vertraut bin, wird als Partner mit dem Team der internen Revision zusammenarbeiten. Der Grund, warum wir ein externes Unternehmen einbeziehen, ist eine Verbreiterung der Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten sowie eine Verbesserung der Kapazitäten in unserem internen Team. Ich erwarte, dass wir von der Erfahrung und der Perspektive profitieren, die eine externe Beratung mit sich bringt. Längerfristig besteht aber das Ziel, die interne Revision wieder zu einer rein internen Angelegenheit werden zu lassen.
Was bedeutet das für die Mitarbeiter in ihrem Arbeitsalltag?
Nick Alexos: Zunächst hoffe ich, dass die Auditoren spüren, dass sie willkommen sind. Die einzelnen Standorte sollten darauf vorbereitet sein, offen mit ihnen zusammenarbeiten. Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass diese Erfahrung uns alle weiterbringt. Darüber hinaus möchte ich die interne Revision zu einer attraktiven Karrieremöglichkeit machen: Es soll interessant werden, hier eine mehrjährige Tätigkeit anzunehmen und das Gelernte dann in andere Bereiche des Unternehmens zu tragen. Die interne Revision ist ein ziemlich spannender Bereich. Die Mitarbeiter dieses Teams sind viel unterwegs, können sich ein breites Netzwerk aufbauen und sich intensiv mit Risiken, Abläufen und Kontrollen in unserem Unternehmen vertraut machen.
Der zentrale Einkauf ist ebenfalls ein wichtiger Faktor, um den Unternehmenswert zu steigern und die Wachstumsfähigkeit zu sichern. Wie soll dieses Team konkret aussehen?
Nick Alexos: Der zentrale Einkauf wird auf drei Teams aufgeteilt, die sich nach der Art des Einkaufsbereichs gliedern, für den sie zuständig sind. Wir haben drei verschiedene Arten des Einkaufs identifiziert: indirekte vertragliche Ausgaben, indirekte Transaktionsausgaben und direkte Ausgaben. Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass es einen Mehrwert bringt, wenn wir für jeden dieser Bereiche engagierte verantwortliche Mitarbeiter benennen anstatt alles in einer einzigen Funktion zusammenzufassen.
