Bensheim als Software-Hub auf Wachstumskurs
Nach einem Jahr Corona und wegweisenden strukturellen Neuerungen zieht die Geschäftsführung Bilanz und zeigt Perspektiven des Standorts auf.
Seit dem 1. April 2021 verantworten Cord Stähler (Senior Vice President Digital Platforms & Solutions und Chief Technology Officer), Jan Siefert (Vice President Operations) und Rainer Raschke (Vice President Accounting EMEA) die Geschäftsführung am Standort Bensheim. Im Interview spricht das Führungstrio über Entwicklungsperspektiven für den Standort und das Potenzial der Digitalisierung in der Zahnheilkunde.
Digitalisierung
Welchen Stellenwert wird die Digitalisierung in der künftigen Strategie haben?
Stähler: Digitale Zahnheilkunde bietet großes Potenzial. Denn moderne Technologie kann im Praxisalltag noch größere Freiräume schaffen: Wenn Zahnärzte auf alle Daten – vom Röntgen bis zur Fertigung der Krone – zugreifen können, ohne die Daten von verschiedenen Geräten übertragen zu müssen. Wenn intelligente Lösungen und automatische Workflows dafür sorgen, dass sich Zahnärzte und Praxisteams weniger mit der Technik beschäftigen müssen und dafür deutlich mehr Zeit für das Patientengespräch und die Behandlung haben.
Welche Auswirkungen hat das auf die Strukturen am Standort Bensheim?
Stähler: Bislang hat jede Produktgruppe wie Bildgebende Systeme oder Behandlungseinheiten ihre eigene Software. Künftig soll es eine gemeinsame verknüpfte Softwarewelt für alle Geräte und Services geben. Die Strukturen dafür sind in Bensheim vorhanden. Der Technologie- Schwerpunkt am Standort wird damit ergänzt – und Bensheim zum Software-Hub im Konzern. Auf diesem Weg haben wir das erste Drittel schon geschafft. In zwei Jahren werden wir voraussichtlich mit den Kernprozessen so weit sein. Perspektivisch eröffnen sich für uns so neue Markt- und Wachstumschancen.
Standortentwicklung
Nach mehr als einem Jahr Corona – wie steht der Standort Bensheim aktuell da?
Siefert: Nachdem das Geschäft im ersten Halbjahr 2020 stark eingebrochen ist, hat sich der Markt schneller erholt als erwartet. Seit September 2020 haben wir keine Kurzarbeit mehr. Unsere Produktionskapazitäten sind voll ausgelastet, und wir stellen wieder ein: 50 offene Stellen in der Fertigung sollen besetzt werden.
Wie geht es in Bensheim weiter?
Siefert: Der Standort wird weiter wachsen. Das hat sich schon in den vergangenen Jahren abgezeichnet, als die Produktion von Behandlungsinstrumenten und Sterilisatoren nach Bensheim verlagert wurde. In der Produktion wird sich vieles weiter vereinheitlichen. Dafür ist Bensheim mit einer hohen Produktivität gut aufgestellt, hier können bestehende Infrastrukturen optimal genutzt werden.
Sind weitere Umbaumaßnahmen geplant?
Siefert: Um den Lkw-Verkehr von der Werner-von-Siemens-Straße umzuleiten, verlängern wir den Berliner Ring am Südwestende und schaffen einen direkten Anschluss an das Betriebsgelände. Dafür investieren wir einen siebenstelligen Betrag und bekennen uns klar zu Bensheim als zukunftsfähigem Standort. Sobald die baulichen Genehmigungen vorliegen, werden wir mit der Umsetzung beginnen. Das wird voraussichtlich in einem halben Jahr so weit sein.
Geschäftliche Entwicklung
Werfen wir einen Blick auf die Zahlen – wie steht Bensheim da?
Raschke: Die Investitionen in den Standort sprechen eine klare Sprache: Bensheim hat Zukunft und Potenzial. Die Produktivität ist sehr gut. Wir wollen die Infrastruktur künftig noch besser nutzen, indem wir die Produktion und damit verbundene Aufgaben hier weiter konzentrieren. Wichtig für künftiges Wachstum sind auch die geplanten Investitionen in Forschung und Entwicklung.
