38° Congresso Internazionale AIOP Accademia Italiana di Odontoiatria Protesica
Dal 21 al 23 novembre 2019 si è svolto presso il Palazzo della Cultura e dei Congressi di Bologna il 38° Congresso Internazionale AIOP dal titolo “Terapia protesica nel contesto della salute generale del paziente”. Relatori di eccellenza clinica e tecnica hanno condiviso la loro visione di approccio al paziente, ponendo l’accento sull’importanza del piano di trattamento in cui il paziente stesso e la sua salute sono i veri protagonisti.
Le correlazioni tra la terapia protesica e la salute globale dell’individuo coinvolgono gli specialisti della protesi in situazioni che vanno dai problemi di gestione del paziente più fragile (il paziente anziano, il paziente portatore di protesi totale), ai problemi di percezione psicologica del sorriso (l’impatto delle terapie più estetiche in un contesto culturalmente molto attento all’estetica), passando per le relazioni tra protesi e salute del cavo orale.
Negli ultimi anni l’enfasi di molti eventi formativi si sta spostando sul trattamento di situazioni con risvolti prevalentemente estetici. Nei paesi dove la prevenzione ha raggiunto l’obiettivo di limitare il danno delle patologie dentali e parodontali, si tende talvolta a considerare la terapia protesica come un puro restauro estetico di problemi limitati alle usure dentali ed a inestetismi vari. Ma “protesi” per definizione è la sostituzione artificiale di parti anatomiche mancanti. L’intento dell’Accademia è stato quello di spostare l’attenzione su tutte quelle situazioni quotidianamente presenti negli studi odontoiatrici e per la parte tecnica nei laboratori odontotecnici in cui il trattamento è parte integrante della cura della salute generale del paziente.
