Lei è arrivato in Dentsply Sirona con una vasta conoscenza dell'industria sanitaria e del settore dentale. Come ha trovato Dentsply Sirona negli ultimi mesi e in cosa si è maggiormente contraddistinto secondo lei?
Nick Alexos: Ho molti anni di esperienza nell'industria dentale e ho sviluppato una profonda conoscenza del mercato. Da quando sono entrato in Dentsply Sirona, ho cercato di conoscere quante più persone possibile visitando sedi in tutto il mondo e andando anche alle fiere per incontrare clienti e distributori. Certamente il talento del nostro personale e il loro impegno per i prodotti e il cliente è ciò che più mi ha colpito.
Cosa vorrebbe che i dipendenti sapessero di lei?
Nick Alexos: Vorrei che i nostri dipendenti mi conoscessero come persona, che ho una moglie e tre figli che vivono negli Stati Uniti e che provengo dal mondo degli investimenti, ma che ho esperienza nell'industria dentale e anche nell'organizzazione di Sirona come membro del consiglio di amministrazione di Sirona Dental Services.
Gestire i maggiori rischi che le organizzazioni pubbliche devono affrontare oggi è fondamentale per raggiungere gli obiettivi aziendali. Come gestisce Dentsply Sirona la sua esposizione globale al rischio?
Nick Alexos: La cosa più importante che possiamo fare è avere brave persone e un rapporto onesto con il personale, una buona formazione e una comunicazione aperta in modo che i dipendenti non siano preoccupati di condividere i problemi, se e quando sorgono. I nostri dipendenti sono gli occhi e le orecchie dell'azienda e devono anche essere attenti ai rischi. Un'altra cosa fondamentale per affrontare il rischio è avere sistemi IT efficienti.
C'è un particolare rischio normativo o fiscale che la preoccupa maggiormente?
Nick Alexos: Non c'è nessun rischio che mi preoccupi da un punto di vista normativo o fiscale. Sì, la valuta è volatile, le aliquote fiscali cambiano e ci sono sempre nuove normative, dunque molte cose da monitorare e a cui prestare attenzione. In quanto imprese, dobbiamo essere sensibili alle nuove norme in materia di protezione dei dati e della privacy. La buona notizia è che molti sono consapevoli della situazione e si stanno prendendo il tempo necessario per prepararsi.
All'inizio di quest'anno è stata apportata un'importante modifica all'organizzazione dell'audit interno, che ha conferito alla società Ernst & Young un ruolo importante nella supervisione dell'esecuzione e della realizzazione complessiva degli audit in tutta Dentsply Sirona. Qual è il contesto di questo cambiamento?
Nick Alexos: La mia opinione personale sull'audit interno è che non dovrebbe solo identificare i rischi, ma anche le opportunità operative nel business. Ernst & Young, una società di revisione contabile globale che conosco molto bene, agirà in qualità di co-sourcing con il team di revisione interna. Ci avvaliamo di un'azienda esterna al fine di ampliare le competenze e migliorare la capacità dei nostri membri del team interno e mi aspetto che trarremo vantaggio dall'esperienza e dalla prospettiva che una consulenza esterna porterà. A lungo termine, mi aspetto che questa torni ad essere una funzione completamente interna.
I dipendenti percepiranno cambiamenti o differenze nella loro vita lavorativa quotidiana?
Nick Alexos: In termini di cambiamenti che i dipendenti noteranno, la mia speranza è da un lato che gli auditor vengano accolti con favore. Gli uffici dovrebbero essere pronti a lavorare con loro e, in ultima analisi, l'esperienza migliorerà le competenze delle persone coinvolte, sia nel team di audit interno che nei team delle nostre sedi in tutto il mondo. D'altra parte, vorrei che l'audit interno diventasse un'interessante opportunità di carriera per cui accettare un incarico per diversi anni e quindi trasferire quello che si è imparato in altri settori dell'azienda. L'audit interno è in realtà un ambito piuttosto interessante. I membri del team viaggiano in tutto il mondo, sviluppano un'ampia rete e acquisiscono familiarità con i nostri rischi, attività e controlli.
L'Organizzazione per il Global Procurement è anche un attore importante per promuovere un maggiore valore per l'azienda e garantire la capacità di crescere. Come si presenta la struttura di questo team?
Nick Alexos: L'attività di Global Procurement sarà ora suddivisa in tre team in base al tipo di approvvigionamento che gestiscono. Gli appalti non sono più considerati come un'unica attività. Abbiamo identificato tre diversi tipi di approvvigionamento: spesa contrattuale indiretta, spesa transazionale indiretta e spesa diretta. La ragione di questa divisione è che avere persone dedicate per ciascuna di queste aree tecniche produrrà più valore che avere tutte le aree di approvvigionamento sotto un'unica funzione consolidata.
