Costruire la relazione con la prossima generazione di dentisti
Il concorso annuale di Dentsply Sirona per gli studenti di odontoiatria estetica si è concluso con i tre vincitori invitati a recarsi a Madrid, in Spagna, per presentare il loro lavoro a un congresso di specialisti.
Il Global Clinical Case Contest (GCCC) è un concorso annuale di odontoiatria estetica organizzato da Dentsply Sirona Restorative. Studenti universitari e laureati in odontoiatria con meno di due anni di esperienza possono partecipare documentando un caso clinico in un formato standardizzato con fotografie e testo. Le Università possono presentare massimo tre casi ciascuna. Normalmente l'Università designa anche un tutor per supportare i suoi studenti durante tutto il processo. Gli studenti hanno accesso all'intera linea di prodotti Dentsply Sirona Restorative.
I casi vengono inseriti nelle rispettive competizioni nazionali o regionali in cui vengono selezionati i vincitori. I vincitori nazionali o regionali sono quindi qualificati per la competizione globale. Quest'anno, tredici finalisti si sono recati a Costanza, in Germania, il 6 giugno. La giuria comprendeva il Dott. Rainer Seemann, Vice President Global Clinical Affairs e due esperti esterni: il Dott. Gaetano Paolone dall'Italia e il Dott. Ian Cline dal Regno Unito. Insieme hanno selezionato i tre vincitori.
Uwe Walker (Università di Tübingen, Germania) ha vinto il primo premio per la correzione estetica e funzionale di molteplici difetti dentali erosivi-abrasivi. Il secondo premio è andato a Yannis Génique (Università di Bordeaux, Francia) per il suo caso di design del sorriso anteriore che includeva il rimodellamento di un incisivo laterale riziforme e la sostituzione di numerosi restauri in composito. Il terzo premio è stato assegnato a Mariangela Cernera (Università di Napoli Federico II, Italia) per il suo caso di rifacimento di diversi restauri in composito di classe II nella regione posteriore. I vincitori hanno ricevuto una lampada fotopolomerizzatrice SmartLite Pro come premio. Alla domanda su cosa lo abbia motivato a partecipare al concorso, il vincitore, Uwe Walker, ha risposto che: “Il caso aveva molto potenziale a causa dei diversi aspetti del trattamento. È stato anche utile per il paziente che non avrebbe potuto permettersi una riabilitazione completa se non avesse partecipato alla gara.”
Il viaggio dei vincitori a Madrid
I tre vincitori del GCCC 2019 sono stati invitati al congresso Continental European Division dell’International Association for Dental Research di Madrid a settembre. Per diverse circostanze, solo Mariangela Cernera ha potuto partecipare.
Quasi 4.000 studenti di odontoiatria hanno partecipato al GCCC da quando è iniziato nel 2004. Quest'anno è arrivato alla quattordicesima edizione e Dentsply Sirona ha ricevuto 1.242 adesioni da 140 università di tutto il mondo. La competizione è un ottimo modo per supportare la prossima generazione di dentisti e fargli conoscere il portafoglio di soluzioni protesiche dell'azienda. Aiuta anche a rafforzare l'interesse per la condivisione di casi clinici.

La presentazione del GCCC
