Global Clinical Case Contest 2020/2021
Dentsply Sirona è lieta di presentare i risultati dell‘edizione 2020/2021 del Global Clinical Case Contest, il concorso universitario mondiale che Dentsply Sirona organizza ogni anno dal 2004, con l‘obiettivo di premiare i migliori casi clinici realizzati con i materiali della linea di Conservativa dagli studenti del V e VI anno del corso di Laurea in Odontoiatria e Protesi Dentaria.
Per questa edizione si erano iscritti oltre 80 studenti da 16 diverse Università italiane ma, a causa del perdurare della pandemia, solo 19 studenti provenienti da 9 Università hanno completato e presentato i loro casi clinici. La situazione sanitaria ha costretto molte cliniche universitarie a modificare le procedure e le modalità di lavoro sul paziente, così come accaduto per tutti gli studi odontoiatrici, rendendole più complicate. Si può immaginare quali siano state le difficoltà che hanno dovuto affrontare e superare gli studenti per riuscire a concludere e documentare i loro casi e quindi, nonostante i numeri esigui di quest’anno, abbiamo ritenuto fosse doveroso dare un giusto riconoscimento alla passione, alla fatica e agli sforzi che questi studenti hanno dovuto sostenere, insieme ai loro tutor e professori.
I giudici che quest’anno hanno valutato i casi clinici sono il Dott. Paolo Ferrari di Parma, il Prof. Vassilios Kaitsas di Roma, il Dott. Lorenzo Massai di Firenze e il Dott. Roberto Spreafico di Busto Arsizio: tutti nomi molto conosciuti nell’ambito dell’odontoiatria conservativa e tutti soci attivi dell’A.I.C., Accademia Italiana di Odontoiatria Conservativa e Restaurativa, nella quale ricoprono o hanno ricoperto cariche nell’ambito del direttivo e delle diverse commissioni.
I casi sono stati valutati in forma anonima, poiché sono state rimosse le indicazioni relative al nome del partecipante e all’università di appartenenza. I giudici hanno attribuito singolarmente dei voti ad ogni poster in base ai seguenti parametri: documentazione del caso clinico, descrizione dettagliata degli step clinici, qualità della documentazione fotografica, grado di difficoltà del caso e risultato clinico-estetico generale. Una volta stilata la classifica, è stata comunicata ai giudici e ai partecipanti la terna dei finalisti.
La premiazione, che solitamente ha luogo durante il congresso nazionale dell’A.I.C., anche quest’anno è stata sostituita da un evento in diretta web che si è tenuto giovedì 3 giugno su Zoom (per accedere alla registrazione clicca qui). La classifica finale quest’anno ha visto l’affermazione di Rosalba Diana dell’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Roma, accompagnata dal Dott. Francesco Motta; al secondo posto, Martina Cordaro, anche lei dell’Università Cattolica di Roma e seguita dallo stesso tutor e al terzo posto Nimet Bajraktari dell’Università di Pavia, supportato dal Dott. Paolo Riva. I vincitori hanno ricevuto in premio degli assegni del valore di 1.000, 800 e 500 euro da spendere nell’acquisto di prodotti di conservativa Dentsply Sirona.
Rosalba Diana ha difeso i colori italiani alla finale internazionale, che si è tenuta sempre in modalità web il 24 giugno e alla quale hanno partecipato gli altri finalisti di tutti i paesi o gruppi di paesi del mondo. I vincitori sono stati premiati da una giuria internazionale che, oltre al suo presidente, il Prof. Dr. Rainer Seemann, Vice President Global Clinical Research and Scientific Support di Dentsply Sirona, era composta dai due dentisti e professori universitari di fama internazionale, il Prof. Ian Cline del Regno Unito e il Prof. Gaetano Paolone dall’Italia.
Il primo posto è andato a Emin Ismaylov dell’Università statale di medicina e odontoiatria di Mosca, Russia. La nostra Rosalba Diana dell’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Roma ha conquistato la seconda posizione. Il terzo posto è stato invece assegnato ex aequo a Lizhong Sun dell’Università del Sichuan, Cina, e a José Muñoz Peñalver dell’Università Cattolica San Antonio di Murcia, Spagna. I poster dei 3 finalisti a livello internazionale verranno esposti al congresso CED-IADR che si terrà a Bruxelles a metà settembre.
“Tutti ci auguriamo di poter presto riprendere i nostri ritmi abituali e quindi, sostenuti sempre dal nostro grande ottimismo, a settembre daremo il via alla nuova edizione del concorso, sperando possa godere di uno svolgimento regolare, ritornando ai ritmi e al numero di partecipanti pre-COVID” ha commentato Giovanni Ceccato, Key Opinion Leader e Clinical Education Manager di Dentsply Sirona.
