211 centri di trattamento Sinius su misura per l'Università di Otago
La formazione della prossima generazione di professionisti dentali è un fattore importante per migliorare la salute orale in tutto il mondo. L'Università di Otago in Nuova Zelanda ha scelto Dentsply Sirona come partner nella costruzione di una nuovissima struttura.
La città di Dunedin si trova sulla pittoresca costa centro-orientale di Otago, circondata dai resti di un vulcano. È la seconda città più grande della parte meridionale della Nuova Zelanda e ospita anche la più antica università del paese, l'Università di Otago. L'università sta rimodernando la sua scuola di odontoiatria attraverso un enorme progetto da 130 milioni di dollari neozelandesi (85 milioni di dollari). La prima fase, recentemente completata, ha comportato la costruzione di una struttura a quattro piani ad alta tecnologia dotata di una sala di valutazione ed estrazione, di una sala per radiografia e di una notevole quantità di postazioni di trattamento per gli studenti e per i 70.000 pazienti della clinica universitaria.
È stata un'esperienza incredibile lavorare su questo progetto per l'Università di Otago. Siamo stati in grado di fornire loro non solo le attrezzature di cui avevano bisogno, costruite secondo le loro specifiche, ma anche l'esperienza per aiutarli a raggiungere la loro visione di una struttura di eccellenza progettata diversamente da qualsiasi altra clinica dentale del mondo. La loro idea di costruire tutto in funzione dell'esperienza del paziente era in linea con il nostro impegno a mettere il cliente al primo posto".
Nel 2018, l'Università di Otago ha fatto una gara per equipaggiare la sua nuova clinica dentale. L'università voleva essere la prima a costruire la sua nuova struttura interamente attorno all'esperienza del paziente. Dentsply Sirona è stata scelta grazie alle capacità dello Special Clinic Solutions Team, l'unico nel settore in grado di fornire una soluzione completa di tutte le attrezzature necessarie. Peter Rössling, Director Special Clinic Solutions International, ha viaggiato avanti e indietro tra Bensheim, Germania e Dunedin al fine di comprendere le esigenze specifiche del team universitario e consigliarli sul progetto.
La nuova struttura doveva prevedere 215 nuovissimi centri di trattamento (inclusa una sedia bariatrica) che dovevano soddisfare alcune esigenze molto specifiche e consentire a tutti i servizi di essere collegati agli standard neozelandesi per il loro sistema di cartelle cliniche elettroniche. I centri di trattamento dovevano essere realizzati appositamente per le esigenze della Facoltà di Odontoiatria, per adattarsi non solo all'odontoiatria generale, ma anche all'ortodonzia, alla pediatria e ad altre cure specialistiche. Sono stati scelti i centri di trattamento Sinius e Dentsply Sirona ha fornito tutte le attrezzature necessarie per la clinica. Oltre ai centri di trattamento, verranno utilizzati un set completo di circa 1.500 manipoli di Dentsply Sirona e dispositivi di imaging 3D come Galileos.
Prima di costruire su misura questo grande ordine a Bensheim, è stato realizzato e testato un prototipo sulla base delle postazioni di trattamento della clinica per garantire che fosse funzionale per il personale e gli studenti, dal momento che i centri di trattamento sarebbero stati fondamentali per l'ambiente di insegnamento oltre che per svolgere le loro normali funzioni.

Centri di trattamento innovativi ricchi di funzionalità
Ogni centro di trattamento Sinius ha un computer integrato, che consente di visualizzare sullo schermo i dati dei pazienti nonché i risultati delle radiografie e delle scansioni digitali. Le unità sono dotate di un sistema autopulente computerizzato per garantire che gli standard di prevenzione delle infezioni siano facilmente seguiti e rispettati rigorosamente. I centri di trattamento sono inoltre monitorati dal software di gestione (Vionex) in modo che qualsiasi necessità di manutenzione possa essere risolta rapidamente.
La nuova struttura ha l'infrastruttura e le attrezzature per lavorare con le cartelle cliniche elettroniche dei pazienti collegate al sistema Titanium della Nuova Zelanda. Fino ad ora, solo i nomi dei pazienti, i dettagli di contatto e i registri finanziari erano conservati elettronicamente dalla clinica universitaria. Tutto il resto richiedeva che i file cartacei fossero portati da un luogo all'altro mentre i pazienti venivano valutati e trattati. I registri elettronici sono efficienti sia dal punto di vista del clinico sia per garantire una migliore supervisione accademica, per garantire che gli studenti siano abbinati a un gruppo diversificato di pazienti e casi, per colmare eventuali lacune nella formazione. I pazienti inoltre possono sapere in anticipo quanto costerà il loro trattamento. La protezione dei dati è ovviamente garantita in ogni momento.
Il layout del nuovo edificio è invitante e aperto, pur garantendo la privacy dei pazienti. Il design è veramente incentrato sul rendere eccezionale l'esperienza del paziente, consentendo allo stesso tempo una maggiore collaborazione all'interno della clinica in tutte le discipline. Ciò aiuta l'università a sviluppare più facilmente nuovi curricula man mano che le tecnologie e le discipline si evolvono.
Dentsply Sirona ha seguito il progetto dalle fasi iniziali alla grande apertura.
La logistica dell'installazione di oltre 200 centri di trattamento
I nuovi centri di trattamento sono installati sui primi tre piani della nuova struttura. Il primo piano è dedicato a postazioni di lavoro specializzate mentre il secondo e il terzo piano contengono le postazioni di trattamento utilizzate principalmente per il pubblico e dagli studenti. Dentsply Sirona ha portato i membri di una società locale di ingegneria medica a Bensheim in due gruppi, per fornirgli la formazione necessaria per l'installazione dei centri di trattamento. Con l'avvicinarsi dell'apertura, i tecnici tedeschi che fanno parte dello Special Projects Team si sono trasferiti in Nuova Zelanda per un totale di due mesi. Dentsply Sirona ha anche formato un gruppo di utilizzatori per fargli conoscere tutte le funzionalità dei centri di trattamento all'avanguardia e delle apparecchiature associate. Questi utilizzatori hanno quindi organizzato sessioni di formazione per altro personale e studenti.
È stato incredibile far parte di questo progetto non solo per la sua portata ma anche per il suo potenziale impatto. Il personale e gli studenti della clinica odontoiatrica dell'Università di Otago eseguono circa 76.000 trattamenti all'anno. Fornire apparecchiature all'avanguardia che consentano la migliore assistenza possibile al paziente facilitando una formazione di alta qualità per la prossima generazione di dentisti è un degno sforzo. Guardando al futuro, il team Special Clinic Solutions mira a utilizzare la collaborazione con l'Università di Otago come modello per aiutare le cliniche dentali di tutto il mondo a modernizzare le loro strutture e a focalizzare l'esperienza sui pazienti.
