Primetime in Berlin: Presentation of CEREC Primemill
Excellence made easy. With the new CEREC Primemill milling and grinding unit, Dentsply Sirona is taking the CEREC system to a new level of convenience, versatility, speed and quality. This was celebrated on January 24th at an atmospheric event at the Berlin „AXICA“ with more than 200 Key Opinion Leaders from all around the world.
To the sounds of Antonio Vivaldi‘s violin concerto „Summer“ from his „Four Seasons“, Holger Emmert, Vice President Digital Platforms and Marketing CAD/CAM and Orthodontics, presented another masterpiece of engineering —CEREC Primemill. This new milling and grinding unit enables dentists to fabricate restorations directly chairside in a single visit within a very short time frame while meeting the highest clinical standards.
The capabilities of the new unit represent a true CEREC milestone and are thanks to a large team from the CAD/CAM department. Thousands of hours of work have gone into the new product to meet every customer requirement in terms of convenience, quality, versatility and speed. The developers of the mechanics, electronics and firmware, CAM software and CEREC software application all came together to define the basic concept that ultimately led to CEREC Primemill, which was developed and produced in Bensheim, Germany. What seems simple to the user today was a real challenge for the developers in R&D. The entire team is proud of the final result. CEREC Primemill is already a game-changer for users and, with further developments planned, the system will only become more valuable in its abilities.
The all-new CEREC
Dr. Alexander Völcker, Group VicePresident CAD/CAM and Orthodontics, summed up the special features of CEREC Primemill: It is a completely new platform with brand new state of-the-art technology.
We have given the new system the
title ‚Excellence made easy‘ – quite
deliberately. This statement is
based on the building blocks of
convenience, versatility, speed and
quality. The technology ensures a
high degree of delegation and very
little training effort for staff while at
the same time delivering outstanding
restorations."
The initial feedback from beta testers and users who got to know CEREC Primemill in Berlin was enthusiastic. They praised above all the convenience in operation, speed and truly high-precision results. Dr. Mike Skramstad from Orono Dental Care, Minnesota, USA commented that „We are creating a level of efficiency at the dental chair that I would never have thought possible. CEREC Primemill is a really great machine and it has changed everything.“
Technology leadership substantiated CEREC Primemill is of outstanding importance to the Company. Digital technologies are a matter of course in dental treatments today and are becoming increasingly important. CEREC plays a significant role in this context as more than 40,000 CEREC units of the current generation have been installed in dental practices worldwide to date. The Company played a pioneering role in digital dentistry. „When we started 35 years ago this was by no means predictable,“ said Dr. Völcker looking back. „We had to overcome several hurdles in the further development of CEREC. But we never lost sight of our goal. We have always believed that digital technologies are indispensable for modern dentistry, and we continued research when others stopped. Today, we still place great value on making good things even better by listening to our customers and understanding their needs. In the past twelve months we have completely renewed almost all components of our CEREC workflow. We are convinced that together with CEREC Primescan software, CEREC Primemill can now offer our customers a setup that really leaves nothing to be desired. Now is the time to go chairside.“
Top performance from development to marketing To get this message across at an unforgettable event, a large team of experts worked together across national borders–from development to product management, from marketing to public relations. The result was an inspiring and rousing product presentation on stage at the Berlin AXICA. During the 2-day educational event, participants learned about CEREC Primemill’s new technology and functions, the new marketing strategy and campaign approach and got the chance to test the new milling and grinding unit themselves in extensive hands-on sessions. The presentation of several clinical cases on stage rounded off the event. Apart from the lectures and training part, the opportunity for professional exchange and networking within this huge international community was very much appreciated. Another highlight of the event was the honoring of Dr. Joachim Pfeiffer, Chief Technology Officer CAD/CAM, for his commitment to CEREC. Over the past 30 years he has shaped the development of the system and ensured that CEREC is what it is today. In his laudatory speech, CEREC inventor Prof. Dr. Dr. Werner Mörmann paid tribute to Dr. Pfeiffer‘s great passion for perfecting the system. In addition to the more than 200 key opinion leaders from 46 different countries, 30 international press representatives were also present for whom a separate CEREC Primemill demonstration was held. Noah Levine from the Magazine Dental Products Report enthusiastically remarked, „It is not only the technology that impresses but also the way Dentsply Sirona brings it to the dental market.“ CEREC Primemillis now available in many markets as a crucial element of the all-new CEREC system.
