Currently, internal communications are accomplished through several different channels. Those channels include Growing, established to better communicate the integration process; Spotlight, the employee magazine giving employees the opportunity to share their stories on global, SBU, and local levels; Executive News, for updates about the business itself, HR News authored by SVP, CHRO, Maureen MacInnis; and the temporary Merger Platform acting as a global intranet.

There is a need for a global platform that will help everyone work, collaborate and communicate more efficiently – a platform that will work as a digital hub and workplace. The Digital Workplace will be a place to collaborate, to get information and to access relevant, helpful tools.

The portal will feature an automated translation function for news to overcome language hurdles, a localized and personalized news dashboard as well as single sign-on business applications and alert functionalities for third party systems like Connections. Teams will be able to work together on projects, share documents, manage to-do lists and even invite internal and external collaborators. Colleagues can personalize the platform, for their needs and interests. The platform will replace the current merger platform and other existing intranets over time. The rollout will start end of January and includes the pilot countries Germany, USA, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan, as well as the pilot SBUs Imaging, Implants, Endodontics and our functions.
