As more and more colleagues are using the new digital platform, the DS Community, additional features are being unveiled alongside specific local content.


The DS Community launched on January 23, 2018 as a new digital workplace that employees use in their everyday working life. The start page shows information relevant to an individual’s location and interests.

Customize the DS Community

In order to take full advantage of the customizable nature of the DS Community, it is essential that every user carefully modifies his/her interests under "Personal Settings." To receive information for all locations and SBUs of interest, it is particularly important to select these. By selecting locations, news, events and alerts will be tailored to these locations of interest. As of recently, the location also affects all other areas of the DS Community due to the addition of local content to complement global content. Local content will only appear for people who have subscribed to the chosen location. As an example, under Human Resources, employees will no longer only find content that is relevant to a general audience across the Company, but will also find information that is only relevant to a specific location or country.

Currently, all employees have access to the DS Community but those in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, the US, and Japan as well as those working within the Endodontics, Implants, and Imaging SBUs are able to contribute content as pilot countries and SBUs to the DS Community. Approximately 100 editors are working to bring the global and local news and other content to the workplace.

Interacting within the platform

Yammer is also used for commenting on and interacting with CEO Don Casey’s new “CEO Blog,” which he is using to inform about important aspects of the business and priorities. More and more employees are using the tools they find in the digital workplace to do their work effortlessly, for example for virtual collaboration on projects. Moreover, many additional features are advancing in the DS Community and they will be launched throughout the course of the year.

Another feature of the DS Community is DS News. This video series keeps colleagues up-to-date with news and updates on Dentsply Sirona locations, SBUs, products, colleagues and important features as well as developments regarding the DS Community. The first two editions presented the locations Ballaigues and Mölndal.

One of the most important targets is to give all employees the ability to shape the DS Community. In order to do so, relevant content from former legacy intranets like One Dentsply, Sirona, TechNet, Engage and maweb will be transferred to the new digital workplace. This is a work-in-progress and the transition of the main intranets should be completed by the end of 2018. The new workplace helps employees to stay organized, keep up-to-date, connect and collaborate more effectively with team members regardless of their location. Dentsply Sirona can look forward to many more helpful features as the DS Community continues to develop.
