In SharePoint we have created an idea collection and evaluation tool, where all employees can issue ideas on new products and services. We call it “My Idea.” By using Flows and MS Teams together with “My Idea,” all new ideas are shared in a Teams channel, so it is possible to comment and elaborate further on the idea. In the same “My Idea,” tool, an evaluation is made by a committee on a monthly basis to decide the next step on the ideas. In a couple of months we have collected over 60 new ideas.

In general I am hard to convince when it comes to communication channels. But, I can point out two important communication channels that I use on a regular basis: The Town Halls and Spotlight. I like Town Halls for learning about the Company’s standing in the financial world, how our business is developing and what company-wide changes are coming. Don Casey is a very engaging speaker and quite engaging. Spotlight is a great format that highlights the workforce and also helps the Company become more “human.” I am a great fan of the DS Community, too, as it informs me about organizational changes, new team structures, important corporate projects, etc.

The most frequent communication channel I use is still personalized emails. However, having options today, new channels like Microsoft Teams and Yammer are becoming more and more important to me. I regularly attend the Global Town Hall Meetings. In China we enjoy a separate Town Hall, which gives our employees here a sense of the importance of China as a market for Dentsply Sirona. We also have Spotlight in the local language. I like to read it, because it contains stories from China. DS tunes is also very interesting as it shows our leaders from a different perspective, and I find it exciting to get to know the people.

Since I work daily with our local DS Community site, it´s a must to visit the Global Site as well to catch up about what´s happening at DS worldwide. I have a genuine interest in people, and their wellbeing, and I find it very interesting and fun to follow and read all the posts on DS Yammer. It really makes my day to see all the happy and engaged people out there working with all the different projects that are going on – to see the joy and the pride!

In my function, I work almost exclusively on the road. The internal digital communication channels give me the benefit of always feeling up to date, even when I‘m not in the office. The live broadcasts for the Town Hall meeting and the interviews like DS Talk or the Get-to-Know series in particular give me good insight into the way of thinking of our company. Even with all the digital support, personal networking still plays an important role for me. I can see how successfully we have grown together over the past few months and how we can make things happen together. And sometimes, despite all the digital information channels, a simple method helps: “reaching for the phone.”
