DS World Congresses excite customers
The Company brought its successful DS World format to Italy and Spain for two events that paired cutting-edge education with unforgettable entertainment.
Dentsply Sirona continues to expand the DS World branded events into different markets around the globe. A pair of DS World Congresses took place earlier this year in Italy and Spain. The events illustrate a customer-centric philosophy that aims to bring participants from multiple areas of dentistry in touch with the leading industry professionals. The opportunity to train under impressive educators on the most innovative solutions in dentistry is already a big draw. Coupled with the potential to network in both formal and casual settings make these essential events.

Highlights from Italy
Over 60 well-regarded speakers took to the stage at the Riccione Conference Center from April 11–12, 2019 for the DS World Italy Congress.
Three parallel sessions took place for dentists, dental technicians and dental hygienists, bringing a diverse group of roughly 800 professionals together under one roof with 750 square meters of exhibition space. Participants interested in implant dentistry had the chance to take part in four pre-conference courses on Dentsply Sirona implant solutions, including a very special session on the Acuris system – the latest innovation in implant prosthetics – presented by its creator, Dr. Marco Degidi.

In his opening presentation, Pierluigi Violati, Dentsply Sirona Group Vice President, RCO Southern Group, introduced participants to the new campaign “Inspired by your needs.” The campaign, first announced at this year’s International Dental Show, aims to express how the Company develops technologies and workflows coordinated precisely to the needs of customers, thus enabling them to raise dental treatment to the next level of quality care. On the second day, dentists were invited to attend dedicated sessions on Endo-Resto, Implants and CAD/CAM. Dental technicians followed a course on inLab software, while hygienists attended a course on Cavitron and the Smart Scaling Procedure.
In addition to the scientific program, DS World Congresses are also known for their memorable evening entertainment and the Italian event certainly did not disappoint. Guests met at the Peter Pan Club in Riccione. Entertainment included an acrobatic dance show by the internationally known Kataklò Athletic Dance Theatre. Those who were up early the next morning could join the DS Run, a non-competitive 4 km race, or walk on the Riccione seafront to promote a healthy lifestyle.
A benchmark event in dentistry came to Madrid
Under the claim, “You don’t know yet. You are part of something very big,” Dentsply Sirona held its biggest meeting of the year for the Iberian Peninsula on June 28th and 29th in Madrid, Spain at the Palacio de Congresos. Professionals from all specialist areas of dentistry including implant dentistry, orthodontics, restorative, endodontics, aesthetics, and lab gathered to take part in a strong scientific program featuring expertise from nationally and internationally renowned speakers alongside world-class entertainment and opportunities to share knowledge and experiences. The program was designed with inclusivity in mind, as all presentations were available with simultaneous translation.
DS World was a proud moment for those involved in organizing the event as the educational sessions really were on the cutting-edge of modern dentistry. Examples include Dr. Shannon Patel’s session entitled, ‘How far can we go with a CBCT in Endodontic Treatments?’ or Dr. David Juan i Salvador’s presentation on Implantology in Cancer Patients. The educational value of the event did not just come from the speaker sessions. The poster competition also provided a worthy forum for knowledge sharing.

It takes the hard work of many employees to create DS World events both in the lead-up and onsite. In advance of the congress, the team created a clever brochure for the DS World Madrid event that highlighted elements of the program and contained all of the relevant information inside. The brochure translated the claim of “being part of something very big” into design language. Shaped like a hexagon and folded like a map, the brochure opened to surprisingly reveal something much larger than it first appeared while its shape also allowed for it to fit together with other brochures. During the event, employees answered numerous questions about the Company’s latest solutions and had the opportunity to perform demonstrations for clinicians and assistants. A special thanks goes to everyone involved in making this event a success.
The next DS World events will take place in Moscow, Russia on September 20–21 and Las Vegas, USA on October 3–5, 2019.
