Focus on Innovation and education
The Implants business has a winning combination of developing solutions and providing the education to achieve the Company’s mission of empowering dental professionals. At the same time, they are also empowering colleagues with the tools and information needed to get these solutions to the marketplace.
A promising start for the latest Astra Tech Innovation
In response to fast-growing demand as well to address specific handling needs of customers, Dentsply Sirona launched the Astra Tech Implant EV in the US last summer. The launch was the culmination of a close cooperation between the Country Commercial Organization (CCO) in the US and the Research & Development (R&D) team in Sweden. To develop the implant, a task force headed by Kevin Downs, Brand Manager USA, and Johan Falk, Senior Project Manager Research & Development.
The outcome of the project is an updated implant with deeper threads in the apical (direction toward the root tip) part - a small change with very positive effects. “The implant is easier to insert, handling is easier, and we see a significant improvement when it comes to the primary stability. It is the same implant, we have just added to its performance – like a facelift on a premium car,” said Johan Falk. Kevin Downs is all smiles about the US market’s reception: “Our current customers adopted quickly and we have also attracted new customers.” This success is bound to continue as Astra Tech Implant EV rolls out to more markets. Product innovation goes handin- hand with clinical education and the Implants business has several updates to share in this area as well.

Colleagues join a “Train-the-Trainer” Meeting in Sweden
Alongside high quality training and education for the dental market, it’s important that the same standard of training be shared internally. One great example of this took place at the education center in Molndal, Sweden this past November. The Dentsply Sirona Implants team brought 65 colleagues from 30 countries together for an in-depth training on workflows, products and solutions, combined with sales training and coaching. Traditionally, this training provided a wealth of information on products and concepts. Starting this year, the Trainthe- Trainer program will also include information related to selling implants as part of the newly initiated Implants Sales Academy. To educate sales representatives and other colleagues about workflows, procedures, solutions, products and equipment as quickly as possible, and to be able to distribute digital onboarding training to CCOs, the Dental Product Groups Implants is currently building an Implants Training Platform together with MIS Implants (a daughter of Dentsply Sirona).
