Dentsply Sirona is in the process of hosting a four city scientific congress on implant dentistry — the World Summit Tour. The tour has already traveled to Tokyo in February, San Diego in May, and Nice in June. The final tour stop will take place in Shanghai in 2018.
Each tour stop of the World Summit Tour is designed to inspire clinicians and researchers to share scientific knowledge and clinical experience, and discover the latest developments in implant dentistry. By combining general sessions, hands-on workshops, and a choice of parallel sessions, the program promises to deliver inspiration and education for all members of the treatment team. Implants can help to bring back a patient’s confidence, to help them eat, speak and smile again. Therefore, the theme of the World Summit Tour – because inspiration and confidence matters – mirrors Dentsply Sirona Implants’ dedication to improved oral health and enhanced quality of life for implant patients worldwide.
Shaping the industry together
Arranged by Dentsply Sirona Implants, the tour also features products from Imaging, CAD/CAM, Treatment Centers, and Instruments, showing customers and colleagues alike that Dentsply Sirona is becoming one global company. The World Summit Tour is a perfect opportunity for teams from different SBUs to work together.
We have a true passion for implant dentistry and with this global tour, we are able to show customers our in-depth and profound commitment to science, documentation, education and innovation.

“It was great to see how focused colleagues and visitors were on the confidence-building potential that implant treatment can have on a patient. The teams worked hard to present our integrated solutions from a treatment team and a patient perspective,” said Ann Magnusson, sales booth captain at the Nice tour stop and Senior Marketing Manager at Dentsply Sirona Implants.
The World Summit Tour concept
A scientific congress provides many educational and networking opportunities. Each tour stop has a program containing certain elements. The scientific program at the core of the World Summit Tour brings together science and clinical care, featuring international and local speakers and moderators with a focus on implant dentistry and clinical results.
In the exhibition area, known as the “Inspiration Hub,” visitors can discover the latest products and protocols as well as increase their knowledge and skills by joining short, hands-on sessions. The Nice and San Diego tour stops focused on the comprehensive solutions portfolio from Implants, together with product news, the digital implant workflow, and enabling technologies and procedural solutions. The high level of interest in the content of the Inspiration Hub confirmed a clear and strong trend towards digital implant planning and digitally designed and fabricated implant restorations.
The atmosphere is also meant to foster learning from experienced colleagues and peers. In Nice, the Inspiration Hub featured 44 opportunities to learn more and gain confidence through the Speakers’ Corner, guided tours in digital implant workflow, and hands-on training sessions. The programs are combined with coffee breaks and lunches with ample opportunities to network and catch up with friends and colleagues. The San Diego tour stop had an impressive 18.5 hours for networking, the Tokyo tour stop had 17 hours and Nice 15 hours.
Each tour stop also features four to seven lectures and hands-on pre-congress sessions featuring a variety of implant dentistry topics that are often more focused. Some programs are language and country specific, while others are open to everyone. In Nice, 380 delegates participated in the pre-congress program.

Tour kick-off in Tokyo
The World Summit Tour 2017 commenced in Tokyo where the Astra Tech Implant System EV was unveiled and a new world-class manufacturing site for Atlantis and Simplant was presented. The scientific program included 40 speakers, moderators and committee members. For the first time, 25 Dentsply Sirona employees were awarded the “Fine Play Special Award.” The award recognized employees for going above and beyond in service or performance by helping and supporting customers or colleagues. An unrelenting commitment to the customer is a core value of the Company.

Poster Competition
The Poster Competition is an opportunity to present important and inspiring work in the categories of Clinical Application and Research. A committee of scientific experts is responsible for evaluating the poster submissions at each tour location and choosing the winners. All eight winning posters proceed to a Global Poster Competition where Jan Lindhe, Professor Emeritus at Gothenburg University, Sweden, and Marc Quirynen, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine (Department Periodontology) at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, will select two global winners to be announced after the Shanghai tour stop.
With each of the first three locations receiving 1,000 delegates or more, the results of the World Summit Tour are very satisfying. The San Diego summit showed its social side by yielding an incredible 288,000 shares and messages across social media as well as broad coverage in trade media.
After all the great feedback from the first three summits, the final stop in Shanghai next May is highly anticipated.
