Construire des ponts pour la prochaine génération de dentistes restaurateurs
Le concours annuel de Dentsply Sirona pour les étudiants en dentisterie esthétique s’est conclu par l’invitation des trois lauréats à se rendre à Madrid, en Espagne, et à présenter leurs travaux à un congrès de spécialistes.
Le Global Clinical Case Contest (GCCC) est un concours annuel de dentisterie esthétique organisé par Dentsply Sirona Restorative. Les étudiants en médecine dentaire de premier et de deuxième cycle ayant moins de deux ans d’expérience en pratique clinique peuvent participer en documentant un cas de patient. Les universités sont autorisées à soumettre jusqu’à trois cas chacune. Normalement, l’université désigne également un tuteur pour soutenir ses étudiants. En cas de besoin, les étudiants ont accès à toute la gamme de produits Dentsply Sirona Restorative pour leur participation au GCCC.
Les cas sont présentés dans leurs concours nationaux ou régionaux respectifs où les gagnants sont sélectionnés. Les gagnants sont ensuite qualifiés pour le concours mondial. Cette année, treize finalistes se sont rendus à Constance, en Allemagne, le 6 juin. Le jury était composé du Dr Rainer Seemann, Vice President Global Clinical Affairs, et de deux experts externes : Le Dr Gaetano Paolone d’Italie et le Dr Ian Cline du Royaume-Uni. Ensemble, ils ont sélectionné les trois lauréats.
Uwe Walker (Université de Tübingen, Allemagne) a remporté le premier prix pour la correction de multiples défauts dentaires érosifs-abrasifs. Le deuxième prix a été attribué à Yannis Génique (Université de Bordeaux, France) pour son cas de conception de sourire antérieur qui comprenait le remodelage d’une incisive latérale riziforme et le remplacement de plusieurs restaurations en composite vieillissantes. Le troisième prix a été attribué à Mariangela Cernera (Université de Naples Federico II, Italie) pour son cas de renouvellement de plusieurs grandes restaurations en composite de classe II dans la région postérieure. Les gagnants ont également reçu en cadeau une lampe SmartLite Procuring. Interrogé sur ce qui l’a motivé à participer au concours, le gagnant, M. Walker, a répondu que « le cas avait un grand potentiel en raison des divers aspects du traitement. Il a également été utile pour le patient qui n’aurait pas pu se permettre une rééducation complète sans participer au concours ».
Les gagnants voyagent à Madrid
Les trois lauréats du GCCC 2019 ont été invités au congrès de la Division Europe continentale de l’Association internationale de recherches dentaires à Madrid en septembre. En raison des circonstances, seule Mariangela Cernera a pu y assister en personne.
Près de 4 000 étudiants en médecine dentaire ont participé au GCCC depuis son lancement en 2004. Cette année, le concours a eu lieu pour la 14e fois et Dentsply Sirona a reçu 1 242 soumissions provenant de 140 universités. Le concours est un bon moyen de soutenir la prochaine génération de dentistes de faire découvrir le portefeuille de nos solutions et de renforcer l’intérêt pour le partage d’études de cas.
