Il s’agit de la première d’une série d’articles détaillés profilage individuel unités d’affaires stratégiques (SBUs) aller dans l’ordre alphabétique. La série débute avec un coup d’oeil à l’UDF de CAD/CAM.
La SBU CAD/CAM a dans son histoire contribué à façonner l’industrie dentaire, puisqu’elle a apporté le tout premier système CAD/CAM sur le marché il y a plus de 30 ans. Aujourd’hui, elle est un leader dans la production de solutions innovantes, pour à la fois la pratique dentaire et en laboratoire. Dirigée par le Vice-Président du groupe, Dr Frank Thiel, l’unité rassemble actuellement 268 employés et sa base principale est à Bensheim, en Allemagne. Les marchés principaux de l’unité incluent les USA, le Japon et l’Allemagne suivis de la Chine, l’Australie, la France et le Brésil.
L’unité est reconnue en tant que leader mondial pour ses produits CEREC et inLab. CEREC permet aux dentistes d’utiliser la technologie CAD/CAM et de modeler les restaurations sans passer par les empreintes physiques conventionnelles, tout en permettant de conserver une séance unique. inLab fournit aux laboratoires dentaires des unités de numérisation et de fabrication associées à un logiciel spécialisé.
Plus de trente millions de restaurations dentaires ont été faites dans le monde avec CEREC. L’une d’entre elles concernait un client surprenant. Lorsqu’une lionne africaine de 12 ans nommée Naomi a eu besoin de se faire restaurer une dent abimée, l’équipe vétérinaire du zoo de Ebeltoft, au Danemark, a fait face à un défi de taille, les lions adultes ne pouvant pas être anesthésiés pendant plus de deux ou trois heures. L’équipe a alors choisi d’utiliser CEREC, qui a permis que le traitement soit complètement fait en une seule séance.

Design primé
Certains produits de l’unité CAD/CAM ont reçu de prestigieux prix de design. Par exemple, l’Omnicam CEREC a remporté le Prix iF DESIGN en 2012, et le Prix Red Dot : Design de Produit en 2013. Le scanner de laboratoire inEos X5 a gagné un Prix Red Dot en 2014 et le Prix de design allemand en 2016, tandis que le CEREC Speedfire a reçu un Prix Red Dot en 2016 et un Prix iF DESIGN en 2017.

La collaboration, clé de succès futurs
La fusion a donné des opportunités de collaboration entre différentes SBUs et a déjà fait naître des projets communs fructueux. On peut citer en exemple le World Summit Tour Implants 2017 qui se déroulera à Nice, en France. Dans la zone d’exposition, les unités Implants, Imaging et CAD/CAM présenteront le flux de travail numérique et souligneront les bénéfices découlant de la fusion pour les professionnels du secteur dentaire. Les SBUs Prosthetics, Implants et CAD/CAM travaillent actuellement sur un projet commun de concept pour le congrès des techniciens dentaires de 2018, et démontrent ainsi que Dentsply Sirona est le meilleur partenaire pour les laboratoires et offre des solutions pour quasiment chaque besoin.
Les démonstrations-ventes montrent vraiment à quel point l’entreprise offre des solutions complètes pour quasiment tous les besoins. L’approfondissement de l’intégration et de la collaboration créent un environnement stimulant pour cette unité.
J’ai souvent fait ce genre de démos en direct dans le passé, lorsque je travaillais pour un autre fournisseur de matériel. Maintenant que nous avons étendu notre portefeuille pour inclure le four Speedfire CEREC et que nous avons des spécialistes pour présenter notre matériel, nous pouvons utiliser notre propre matériel pour les démonstrations.

Le scanner de laboratoire inEos X5 a remporté le Prix de design allemand 2016 avec mention spéciale pour l’excellence de son design produit, dans la catégorie « médicale ».
Enquête CEREC
Un sondage en ligne effectué auprès des dentistes allemands et américains a révélé que deux tiers d’entre eux savaient déjà que l’on pouvait effectuer une restauration anatomique à l’oxyde de zirconium grâce à CEREC.
Meilleur Nouveau Produit Opératoire : CEREC Speedfire de Dentsply Sirona.
Adam Busch, responsable en marketing produit pour CEREC, a reçu le prix du Meilleur Nouveau Produit Opératoire pour le CEREC Speedfire. Le four fritte et glace les restaurations en oxyde de zirconium, au fauteuil, pour un traitement en séance unique.
Prix iF Design 2017 pour CEREC SpeedFire
Le CEREC SpeedFire a remporté le prix iF Design2017, un prix de design mondialement reconnu, pour la catégorie « produit ». Chaque année, la plus ancienne organisation indépendante de design allemande, basée à Hanovre et nommée iF International Forum Design GmbH, décerne le Prix iF Design. Étapes franchies dans le développement de CEREC
... surtout lorsque ce produit est destiné à devenir un standard mondialement reconnu. Durant les 30 dernières années, CEREC a évolué constamment. Aujourd’hui, grâce à sa haute fiabilité clinique et à son utilisation intuitive, il est devenu un système CAD/CAM bien établi. Il est le seul système sur le marché pouvant faciliter les restaurations dentaires finales en une unique séance, et pouvant donner à ses utilisateurs une forte valeur ajoutée pour les applications en implantologie et en orthodontie.
1980 Werner H. Mörmann, Professeur de Dentisterie, et Marco Brandestini, Docteur en Sciences Techniques, commencent à développer le CEREC à l’université de Zurich, en Suisse. Ils font breveter leur méthode.
1985 Avec l’aide d’un développeur informatique, Dr Alain Ferru (Zurich, Suisse), ils créent le premier prototype CEREC (« Lemon »). Le 19 septembre, ils réalisent leur premier traitement à la Clinique Dentaire de l’Université de Zurich avec CEREC en utilisant le VITABLOCS Mark I céramique de Vita Zahnfabrik.
1986 Suite à l’accord de licence, Siemens Dental, qui deviendra Sirona 11 ans plus tard, débute une production en série de CEREC.
1987 Lancement commercial officiel des unités en série de CEREC 1.
1988 Lors de l’International Dental Show (IDS), CEREC 1 célèbre son inauguration mondiale.
1994 Lancement commercial de CEREC 2 : le logiciel permet la fabrication d’inlays.
1996 Fondation de la Société Internationale de Dentisterie Informatisée. À cette date, la Société allemande de Dentisterie Informatisée (DGCZ) existe déjà depuis cinq ans.
1997 Le nouveau Module Logiciel CEREC 2 permet la fabrication de facettes.
1998 Le nouveau Module Logiciel CEREC 2 permet la fabrication de couronnes dans le secteur postérieur puis dans le secteur antérieur.
2000 Sirona présente CEREC 3, doté d’unités de numérisation et de fraisage (au sommet du Zugspitze, plus haute montagne d’Allemagne). 3 M Espe devient le troisième partenaire de l’entreprise pour le matériel, avec Vita Zahnfabrik et Ivoclar Vivadent.
2001 La méthode CEREC fait sa place dans les laboratoires dentaires sous la forme du système inLab.
2002 Sirona annonce la vente de la 10 000ème unité CEREC.
2003 Le nouveau logiciel CEREC 3D permet l’estimation des modèles et des restaurations de toute part de l’écran.
2005 Nouveau logiciel de couronne (calcul automatique des points de contact occlusaux des couronnes en prenant en compte les antagonistes).
2005 CEREC Chairline : Intégration de CEREC dans les centres de traitement M1+ et C2.
2006 CEREC Blocs : céramique Feldspath pour la restauration en fauteuil chairside.
2007 La fraiseuse CEREC MC XL est dévoilée au public.
2007 Modèle de dent biogénérique pour inlays et couronnes partielles.
2008 La combinaison d’une proposition de prothèse créée avec CEREC et des données de faisceaux coniques envoyés depuis l’unité à rayons-X GALILEOS 3D permet une planification clinique et esthétique simultanées d’implants et donne la possibilité de commander un guide chirurgical pour un traitement sûr.
2009 Sirona présente l’unité d’imagerie CEREC AC dotée d’une plus haute précision et d’une technologie d’imagerie bleue (CEREC Bluecam). La plateforme internet Sirona Connect peut être utilisée pour transmettre des données d’empreinte numérique aux laboratoires dentaires.
2010 La morphologie dentaire originale (valable maintenant aussi pour les couronnes) est reconstruite sur la base d’un logiciel biogénérique entièrement automatisé et des caractéristiques individuelles du patient.
2010 Lancement commercial de inCoris TZI : premier dioxyde de zirconium translucide mis à la disposition des dentistes.
2011 CEREC SW 4.0 : Nouvelle génération de logiciel avec une interface facile d’utilisation et un design innovant. Il permet la fabrication de nombreuses restaurations.
2012 CEREC Omnicam est optimisé pour une numérisation sans poudrage de la structure dentaire naturelle, dans une procédure d’imagerie en couleur continue.
2012 CEREC SW 4.2 avec traitement d’implants au fauteuil, articulateur virtuel, sourire numérique, et oxyde de zirconium translucide.
2013 Nouvelles fraiseuses CEREC : CEREC MC XL Package Premium (comme lifting), CEREC MC X, et CEREX MC.
2013 CEREC Blocs C In : blocs en céramique avec cœur de dentine en céramique, couverts d’une couche d’émail hautement translucide afin de traiter les dents antérieures.
2014 CEREC SW 4.3 : Le fraisage est utilisé pour la première fois lors d’un traitement au fauteuil.
2014 Présentation d’inCoris TZI C : premier dioxyde de zirconium translucide pré-teinté dans les Couleurs Classiques VITA A1 à D3.
2015 Lors de la fête donnée pour son 30ème anniversaire, Sirona présente une version différente, disposable sur un plan de travail (CEREC AF) ainsi qu’une version ergonomique intégrée (CEREC AI), en plus de la version mobile (CEREC AC).
2015 CEREC Guide 2 : le guide chirurgical le plus rapide et le plus rentable au monde. Peut être fabriqué directement dans votre cabinet.
2015 CEREC et Invisalign : Sirona et Align Technology s’accordent pour un partenariat pour la commande d’appareils dentaires transparents Invisalign pour la correction de malocclusions.
2015 CEREC Ortho SW 1.1 : Empreintes numériques avec le « Scan guide » breveté, pour l’orthodontie. Les données numérisées peuvent être envoyées aux laboratoires afin de fabriquer des appareils orthodontiques.
2015 CEREC SW 4.4 offre une opération facile d’utilisation et permet un usinage de restauration encore plus précis, grâce aux algorithmes Biojaw qui font d’excellentes propositions initiales et améliorent les algorithmes de rodage. La fraiseuse à quatre moteurs CEREC MC XL Premium Package est équipée d’outils de polissage extra-fins.
2015 Deux nouveaux fournisseurs de matériel sont ajoutés : SHOFU et Coltène.
2016 CEREC Zirconia : zircone à structure pleine pour fabrication au fauteuil de couronnes et de petits bridges, pour une utilisation de traitement en séance unique :
