L'équipe éditoriale de Spotlight a rencontré le CEO Don Casey après ses 100 premiers jours chez Dentsply Sirona et l'a questionné sur de nombreux sujets.
Dans cette interview, Don parle de sa vision de la croissance, ce qui inclut de travailler ensemble en tant que One Global Company et de placer le client au centre. Il partage aussi des réflexions sur le temps qu'il consacre à parler avec les employés et les clients et comment ces interactions ont influencé sa pensée.
Vous avez beaucoup voyagé pendant vos premiers mois chez Dentsply Sirona pour visiter de nombreux sites du monde entier. Pourriez-vous revenir sur vos 100 premiers jours et partager vos premières impressions?
Don Casey: Après mes 100 premiers jours, je suis encore plus optimiste que le jour où j'ai commencé. J'ai pu m'entretenir personnellement avec quelque 4 000 employés, exposer ma vision de la croissance de la société et écouter leurs histoires et la fierté qu'ils éprouvent à travailler dans cette industrie. Associez cela au fait que nous pouvons accueillir 1 500 dentistes ou plus à tout événement sur un sujet particulier et vous aurez une idée de la force et de l'opportunité qui existent sur le marché.
Nos établissements de formation et d'exposition m'ont impressionné et impressionnent clairement nos clients. L'éducation clinique est sans aucun doute un domaine qui nous différencie de la concurrence et nous continuerons sur cette voie.
Vous avez dit que l'éducation clinique est un domaine qui différencie Dentsply Sirona. L'éducation clinique fait-elle partie de votre vision globale de la croissance ?
Absolument. Par exemple, nous avons récemment ouvert une Dentsply Sirona Academy à Charlotte, un établissement de pointe qui nous permet de toucher 10 000 dentistes de plus chaque année et nous agrandissons actuellement celui de Bensheim. Nous investissons aussi dans des solutions d'e-commerce pour que nos clients puissent commander nos produits aussi facilement qu'ils le font avec Amazon Prime. Nous allons aussi nous concentrer sur des économies plus petites qui se développent rapidement, réaliser des économies de 100 millions de dollars pouvant être réinvesties dans des secteurs de la société qui soutiennent la croissance, créent une infrastructure autour de notre fabrication en centralisant les fonctions de la chaîne d'approvisionnement et en réduisant la complexité au sein de l'organisation.
J'aimerais que nous placions le client au centre de tout ce que nous faisons. Ce serait formidable que chaque employé puisse garder à l'esprit une image d'un patient et d'un dentiste sur son lieu de travail pour se rappeler qui est au cœur de tout ce que fait Dentsply Sirona en tant qu'organisation.
Comment les employés peuvent-ils soutenir ces initiatives de croissance ?
Don Casey : L'une des choses pratiques que nous pouvons tous faire est de penser à nos clients d'une manière plus holistique, à savoir que nous avons un ensemble de clients sur chaque marché plutôt qu'une unité commerciale spécifique. Laissez-moi vous faire un exemple. Quand j'étais à Shanghai pour la dernière étape du World Summit Tour, j'ai pu discuter avec un dentiste renommé qui connaît un vif succès là-bas. Il utilise nos équipements mais pas nos consommables. Je lui ai demandé pourquoi il n'avait pas envisagé de devenir un partenaire total et sa réponse a été que personne ne le lui avait demandé. Nous devons réfléchir à ce que nous pouvons fournir en tant que société complète plutôt qu'en termes de produits spécifiques ou de SBU.
Après avoir participé à des assemblées publiques à différents endroits, y a-t-il des questions d'employés ou des interactions qui vous ont particulièrement frappé ?
Don Casey : C'est une bonne question. On m'a questionné plusieurs fois sur le développement professionnel et l'établissement des objectifs. Nous devons nous assurer que notre personnel est préparé à la croissance que nous prévoyons. Pour ce faire, il est extrêmement important d'avoir une base de référence pour chacun de nos employés et de veiller à ce qu'ils aient une discussion en tête-à-tête avec leur responsable sur leurs objectifs et leur développement à intervalles réguliers. Cela permettra de s'assurer que les attentes mutuelles soient claires.
Une employée m'a demandé comment elle pouvait mieux communiquer avec le leadership et j'ai beaucoup réfléchi à cette question car elle est pertinente pour renforcer l'engagement au sein de la société. Cela doit commencer par le leadership même et je pense que nous prenons un bon départ avec des opportunités sur la communauté DS d'interagir via Yammer et plus largement via le Global Engagement Survey, qui était une opportunité permettant à notre personnel de donner une évaluation honnête des choses qui fonctionnent et de celles qui ne fonctionnent pas. C'est à nous d'écouter et j'espère que nous le faisons.
Quelle est votre interprétation des résultats initiaux du sondage Engagement mondial ?
Don Casey : J'ai été rassuré que plus des trois quarts de nos employés aient répondu au sondage et j'espère que lorsque nous le referons l'année prochaine, nous pourrons améliorer ce taux de participation de 10 ou 15 %. Les résultats montrent que seuls environ 25 % de nos employés sont très engagés et cela est décevant. Ceci dit, je vois un groupe de personnes motivées venant travailler chaque jour et je suis sûr que, comme nous présentons une vision commune et œuvrons dans ce sens, le résultat sera meilleur au fil des années.
Les mesures prises jusqu'à présent ne sont que le début d'un dialogue permanent et du processus vers un plus grand engagement.
Pourriez-vous partager avec nous une nouvelle sur les 5 principales priorités ? Comment envisagez-vous le progrès dans ces domaines et que peuvent faire les employés pour l'encourager ?
Don Casey : Beaucoup de réflexion et un excellent travail ont été menés pour mettre en place les 5 priorités principales et commencer à les mettre en œuvre. Les Top 5 ont contribué à créer un élan et un sens d'unité. Je pense aussi que nous sommes à un point où ces priorités doivent évoluer. Pour l'avenir, nous devons nous concentrer sur l'amélioration de nos capacités commerciales, de nos partenariats avec les Experts et de la mise sur le marché de produits et de services de grande qualité. Nos clients se trouvent au centre de tout cela.

Don Casey: Notre activité consiste à aider nos clients à apporter des soins dentaires meilleurs, plus sûrs et plus rapides. Notre mission consiste donc à fournir des produits et services qui satisfont ces besoins. En termes d'expérience client, Dentsply Sirona est la seule société pouvant réellement offrir un guichet unique. Si un dentiste s'oriente vers un domaine spécifique de la dentisterie comme les implants, nous pouvons l'aider en fournissant les produits, les flux de travail efficaces et même la formation. Nous voulons que nos clients sachent que nous sommes vraiment un partenaire dans leur réussite.
