Avec la Dentsply Sirona Academy, la compagnie propose le plus vaste programme d'éducation clinique soutenu par l'industrie au monde.
Les chiffres montrent sa capacité à atteindre les professionnels dentaire du monde entier. La DS Academy soutient aussi les futurs professionnels dentaires avec des initiatives comme le Global Clinical Case Contest. La compagnie investit dans de nouvelles technologies pour améliorer l'accès à l'éducation clinique et conserver sa place de leader mondial dans l'e-Learning dentaire. Des équipes collaborent pour développer un système de gestion d'apprentissage en tant que plateforme en ligne permettant à chaque unité commerciale de mener leur programme d'EC. Dentsply Sirona continue d'ouvrir des centres de formation DS Academy de pointe dans le monde comme les locaux ci-dessous.
L'éducation clinique en chiffres
Pour permettre aux professionnels dentaires de fournir de meilleurs soins et d'améliorer la santé bucco-dentaire dans le monde, Dentsply Sirona développe un vaste contenu éducatif pour tirer profit de ses nombreux produits et solutions dentaires. Rien qu'en 2017, la compagnie a dispensé 10 786 cours d'éducation clinique dans 87 pays, formant 410 460 personnes issues de différents secteurs de l'industrie dentaire. Cela représente une augmentation de 20 % du nombre de participants par rapport à 2016. Les dentistes forment le plus grand groupe de participants, suivis des étudiants.
Aperçu des faits et chiffres
En 2017, les principaux programmes étaient les conférences (40 %), les formations produit (29 %) et les formations pratiques (28 %). La région Asie-Pacifique est celle qui a bénéficié du plus grand nombre de cours (4 008) sur l'année, juste devant la région EMEA (3 708). Toutes les SBU ont proposés des cours en 2017, la SBU Endodontics en tête avec 3 294 cours dispensés. Les chiffres montrent les efforts de la compagnie pour atteindre les professionnels dentaires et les aider à proposer un haut niveau de soin à leurs patients. Dentsply Sirona continuera à aider les cliniciens et les techniciens lors d'événements sponsorisés, comme le Dentsply Sirona World et l'Implant Summit.

En s'associant à des leaders d'opinion, des communautés académiques et de recherche et des praticiens sur leurs marchés locaux, les cours d'éducation clinique sont adaptés aux besoins spécifiques des participants.
S'appuyant toujours sur les principes et les composants clés des soins dentaires, les cours peuvent aussi aider à introduire des méthodes, des matériaux et des technologies de pointe. Les participants fournissent, eux, des retours précieux.
Nouvelle plateforme globale pour les cours d'éducation cliniques
Chaque année, la compagnie propose un vaste éventail de cours d'éducation clinique pour l'industrie dentaire dans le monde. La majorité sont dispensés comme des formations avec un instructeur, comme des conférences, des ateliers pratiques et/ou des formations produit. Aujourd'hui, les participants disposent de plusieurs façons pour s'inscrire aux cours et les payer, le processus étant différent selon les SBU et les pays. Collecter des données et les indicateurs de performance relatifs à l'augmentation des programmes éducatifs est un vrai défi.
En 2017, Corporate Clinical Affairs a reçu un investissement stratégique pour créer une structure d'e-Learning incluant un système de gestion d'apprentissage (LMS), qui améliore la mise à disposition des cours d'e-Learning. Le LMS améliorera le processus de dispense des cours d'éducation clinique au sein de la compagnie. Une fois en place en 2020, il permettra aux organisateurs d'événements de créer, gérer et promouvoir des cours d'EC, des événements, des webinaires et des cours interactifs à la demande plus efficacement. Le département IT travaille avec les équipes Marketing et Clinical Affairs au sein d'organisations commerciales pour promouvoir l'utilisation de webinaires pour étendre rapidement le contenu numérique à la demande.
Augmentation de la demande de cours en ligne
En 2017, Dentsply Sirona a proposé 58 webinaires et 80 cours en ligne à la demande. L'objectif de l'activité Clinical Affairs corporatives est d'augmenter les possibilités d'E-learning de 20 % par an sur les 5 prochaines années. Le LMS automatisera le processus et améliorera l'expérience utilisateur. Une fois implanté, les participants pourront s'inscrire et assister confortablement et facilement à des cours sur n'importe quel dispositif. La gestion des cours sera aussi entièrement automatisée, ce qui facilitera la tâche aux employés de Dentsply Sirona responsables des programmes.
Phases initiales de mise en œuvre
Le système de gestion d'apprentissage pour l'éducation clinique sera mis en œuvre en six phases. Les étapes clés des deux premières phases devront être terminées au quatrième trimestre de cette année. Elles comprendront la possibilité pour chacun de s'enregistrer sur un site phare pour s'inscrire à des cours en ligne sur ce site. Les premiers pays qui profiteront de cette fonctionnalité sont la GB, l'Australie, les USA, le Canada, suivis de l'Allemagne, l'Italie, l'Ibérie, la France, la Suède et le Bénélux l'année prochaine.

Compétitions entre étudiants lors du Global Clinical Case Contest
Autre initiative de la Dentsply Sirona Academy : une compétition entre étudiants avec la présentation d'études de cas cliniques en dentisterie esthétique parrainée par la SBU Restorative.
Le Global Clinical Case Contest (GCCC) est une compétition annuelle en dentisterie esthétique organisée par Dentsply Sirona Restorative. Les étudiants en dentisterie diplômés et de 1er cycle avec moins de 2 ans de pratique clinique peuvent participer en documentant le cas d'un patient avec des photos et du texte. Depuis ses débuts en 2004-2005, plus de 2 600 étudiants ont participé. Le GCCC favorise la connexion entre les universités et Dentsply Sirona. La compétition est un programme pour la promotion de jeunes dentistes talentueux, aidant Dentsply Sirona Restorative à établir des produits en tant que norme pour l'éducation et la formation.

Session d'affichage à Madrid
La compétition 2017-2018 a attiré des étudiants de 166 universités. Chaque université peut désigner un tuteur pour ses participants et peut soumettre jusqu'à trois entrées via le bureau Dentsply Sirona local. Les cas entrent dans une compétition nationale (ou régionale) où le gagnant est choisi pour concourir lors de la finale mondiale. Les cas sont alors présentés à des juges internationaux de haut niveau à Dentsply Sirona Restorative à Constance, Allemagne. Les trois meilleurs concurrents remportent des prix et leurs cas sont sélectionnés pour être présentés lors d'une session d'affichage au CED/IADR-NOF Congress à Madrid, Espagne, en septembre 2019.
Les gagnants de l'année dernière
Paul Drehmann de l'université de Wurtzbourg, Allemagne, est le grand gagnant 2017, sous la tutelle du Dr Britta Hahn. Son cas était un patient de 72 ans qui, après avoir reçu un traitement périodontique réussi, a présenté plusieurs problèmes esthétiques, notamment des changements de position des dents, une ligne inégale des bords incisifs et la perte partielle des papilles interdentales.
Le cas montrait que les matériaux composites et les techniques à couche permettent au clinicien d'obtenir des résultats esthétiques prévisibles très satisfaisants pour le patient.
Une option de traitement aurait été de restaurer l'esthétique avec des couronnes ou des facettes entièrement en céramique. Dans ce cas, après discussion avec le patient, des restaurations composites directes peu invasives ont été choisies. Un cirage diagnostic numérique a été effectué pour planifier et concevoir la restauration. Une clé en silicone a été fabriquée pour créer les contours palataux des restaurations. DeTrey Conditioner 36 et Prime&Bond XP ont été utilisés conformément aux instructions du fabricant. La combinaison de ceram.x duo D3 et E2 ainsi que de ceram.x A3 a permis d'obtenir un excellent résultat de surface. Le cas montrait que les matériaux composites et les techniques à couche permettent au clinicien d'obtenir des résultats esthétiques prévisibles très satisfaisants pour le patient.
