Servir a los laboratorios dentales ha sido durante mucho tiempo parte del negocio de Dentsply Sirona. En 2018, varias divisiones de la Compañía se unieron para formar lo que ahora se conoce como DS Lab. Hoy en día, el equipo ofrece una increíble gama de productos y soluciones que mejoran los flujos de trabajo de los técnicos de laboratorio y han cambiado la forma en que los consultorios dentales se comunican y trabajan con sus laboratorios favoritos.
El negocio de laboratorios se compromete con los técnicos dentales de todo el mundo, trabajando en laboratorios de todos los tamaños. En estrecha colaboración con los Country Commercial Organizations (CCOs), DS Lab ofrece todo, desde el equipo, el software, los materiales y la formación necesaria para el éxito de los laboratorios y técnicos dentales para atender a sus clientes.
El equipo del laboratorio está formado por unos 1,500 empleados. Han cosechado varios éxitos recientes, incluyendo el desarrollo de flujos de trabajo digitales para el fresado e impresión de materiales para dentaduras completas. Para conocer más sobre las tendencias importantes del mercado, y la más reciente y excitante innovación de DS Lab en prótesis digitales, Spotlight hizo dos preguntas a la Vicepresidenta de Dentsply Sirona Lab, Julie Mroziak:
¿Cuáles son las tendencias y factores más importantes que influyen en los clientes de los laboratorios dentales y que los empleados deberían conocer?
Julie Mroziak: La transformación digital tanto de los laboratorios como de las clínicas dentales es bastante dinámica y ha hecho que sea aún más importante para el negocio de los laboratorios y los empleados entender las tendencias que se están produciendo para que nos centremos en los desarrollos e innovaciones de productos adecuados para satisfacer sus necesidades. Los laboratorios han sido digitales durante muchos años en el segmento de coronas y puentes. Con nuestro sistema inLab de software de diseño, escáner de escritorio y equipo de fresado, además de una amplia gama de materiales digitales, como el circonio Cercon y el vidrio de alta resistencia Celtra Duo, tenemos una posición fuerte para establecer flujos de trabajo digitales en otros segmentos de la prótesis.
Frente a esta transformación digital, tenemos que conocer y comprender los flujos de trabajo clave del laboratorio para ser también un socio innovador para su proceso de cambio de la fabricación analógica a la digital de prótesis totales digitales. Las tendencias y situaciones básicas en los países son diferentes, pero hay algunos puntos en común. Debido a la tendencia a la consolidación de los laboratorios, el tamaño de estos está cambiando. Algunos laboratorios están creciendo y otros más pequeños se centran en nichos de aparatos y procedimientos. Con la cantidad de laboratorios que están cerrando sus puertas, hay menos técnicos dentales en la mayoría de los mercados. Cada vez es más difícil para los laboratorios contratar técnicos capacitados para su negocio de dentaduras. Y están bajo presión económica para mantener restauraciones de gran calidad de prótesis y dentaduras a un precio razonable.
Necesitamos entender las diferencias de mercado a mercado con nuestras Organizaciones Comerciales Nacionales para asegurarnos de que tenemos las tecnologías, materiales, servicios y herramientas adecuadas para esta transición de mercado. También tenemos que estar seguros de que apoyamos a los laboratorios en esta transformación digital con sus dentistas. Apoyaremos con educación y capacitación para hacerlos expertos en este segmento y ser un sólido socio para ellos. ¿Qué tecnologías e innovaciones deberían conocer mejor los empleados de la empresa?
JM: Hay tantas innovaciones de productos nuevos, grandes y dinámicos del negocio del laboratorio. Recientemente lanzamos nuestro inLab SW 20.0 con un completo flujo de trabajo de diseño de dentaduras digitales para casos completos. Su sistema de dentadura completa también proporciona flujos de trabajo abiertos, validados y fluidos. Siempre recomendamos el flujo de trabajo continuo en el que se utilizan las tecnologías de Dentsply Sirona y los materiales correspondientes, desde el escáner inEos X5 y el software inLab, hasta la unidad de fresado inLab MC X5. Respecto a los materiales, ofrecemos el Denture Base Disc de Lucitone 199 para el fresado de la base de la prótesis y el IPN 3D Digital Denture Teeth, que fueron desarrollados especialmente para el flujo de trabajo digital. Sin embargo, aquellos que lo deseen también pueden trabajar en modo validado y utilizar productos de nuestros socios autorizados. Y como inLab sigue siendo un sistema abierto, también es posible utilizar accesorios abiertos de otros fabricantes. Proporcionamos una exportación de archivos en formato STL para la transferencia de datos.
La resina para dentaduras Lucitone Digital Print 3D es la primera base para impresión de dentaduras de alto impacto aprobada por la FDA que ha llegado al mercado. El flujo de trabajo de impresión incluye cinco productos del sistema de material básico: Lucitone Digital Print 3D Denture Resin, IPN 3D Digital Denture Teeth, Lucitone Digital Try-In 3D Trial Placement Resin, Lucitone Digital Fuse 3-Step 3D Denture Bonding system, and inLab Speedcure Processing Unit. Nos asociamos con una empresa llamada Carbon de San Francisco, California, que es líder en tecnología de impresión. Los materiales y la impresora Carbon M-series están diseñados, probados y validados para trabajar juntos. El sistema está disponible actualmente en los Estados Unidos y estamos trabajando para ayudar a expandirnos a otros países donde las impresoras Carbon M-series están disponibles.
Dentaduras Digitales, con nuestros procesos y tecnologías, ha despertado a los líderes de opinión claves que se sienten revitalizados para trabajar con el Laboratorio DS. Ha sido increíble ver lo emocionados que están de asociarse con nosotros e impulsar la tecnología. La importancia de las dentaduras digitales para los laboratorios fue aparentemente en el 2020 Chicago Midwinter Meeting´s Lab Day, que tuvo lugar en febrero. Nuestras soluciones de dentadura digital fueron el tema de conversación en la feria. Este éxito fue posible gracias a que nuestra gente se unió y colaboró para crear un producto enfocado al cliente. Tres equipos reunieron sus conocimientos: el de Bensheim, Alemania, centrado en los equipos inLab, el software, los escáneres y los sistemas de sinterización; el grupo de Hanau, Alemania, centrado en la cerámica de recubrimiento y la tecnología del óxido de circonio; y los colegas de la sede de York, Pensilvania, EE.UU., centrado en todos los materiales relacionados con la impresión en 3D y la dentadura fresada para trabajar juntos a través de zonas horarias y geográficas. Queremos asumir el papel principal en el campo de las dentaduras digitales. Como siguiente paso en la colaboración, estamos estudiando cómo integrar a nuestros socios del equipo de Implantes en nuestros flujos de trabajo y capacitación en el futuro.
