The Dubai Fitness Challenge Step by step towards wellness
Playing football, running, doing yoga or dancing – Dentsply Sirona employees around the world are realising the benefits and fun of physical exercise while spending time with teammates.
It’s often said that physical exercise contributes to overall wellbeing. With this in mind, Dentsply Sirona supports and encourages employees to be active and participate in the Company’s Global Wellness program.
From 26th October to 24th November 2018, employees in the MENA region participated in the yearly Dubai Fitness Challenge. During the 30-day period, games and challenges were arranged for the employees, including men’s and women’s football, yoga, zumba, Russian twists, darts and a dance contest.
In the corporate challenge, the team battled against thousands of organisations across the region, registering their daily activities and were eventually placed 23rd (rising from 46th in 2017).
What is the Dubai Fitness Challenge?
The Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) is a month-long event with the aim to transform Dubai into the most active city in the world. With a calendar of exciting events, the Challenge is all about motivating and involving the residents of Dubai to undertake 30 minutes of continuous exercise a day for 30 days, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council for Dubai Government in 2017.
Studies have shown that it takes approximately 30 days to make a significant change in a person’s health and wellbeing. And that’s why the Dubai Fitness Challenge encourages every person to make a positive change and enhance their lifestyles, with 30 days of activity.
What's next...
It doesn’t have to end after 30 days! The challenge now is about creating a long-term change, essentially encouraging a revitalised lifestyle choice for our staff to be more positive, healthy and mindful of their wellness. For 2019, we have plans in place to drive our wellness agenda forward and support our team in the MENA region.
Stay tuned for more updates coming soon.
