DS University – “Bringing out the best in our people”
Providing employees with comprehensive career development opportunities is an important aspect for Dentsply Sirona. One such offering – Dentsply Sirona University – is a tailored initiative aimed at fostering leadership, operational and commercial excellence.
At Dentsply Sirona, the development and promotion of internal talent helps to drive success. Fostering a work environment that offers employees opportunities to build on individual strengths, develop specific competencies and make meaningful contributions to the business is important to retain talent, realize performance potential and create a committed workforce.
Dentsply Sirona University (DSU) is an example of the investment the Company is making to develop its employees and advance its competitive advantage.
There are three colleges operating under the banner of DSU:
- The College of Leadership Excellence
- The College of Operational Excellence
- The College of Commercial Excellence
This article focuses on the College of Leadership Excellence. Further information about programs within the Colleges of Operational Excellence and Commercial Excellence will be available in the near future on the DS Community.
Created especially for people managers, the College of Leadership Excellence launched in 2017 and includes three regional programs – Essentials, Advanced and Strategic – as well as two global programs – the Global Leadership Development Program (GLDP) and the Women Inspired Network (WIN). It’s important for leaders to identify specific talent on their teams who could benefit from the DSU programs, and recommend individuals for participation through their local HR team.
Dentsply Sirona’s Leadership Excellence
Proactive talent development starts with managers having the ability to recognize, support, and promote talent at an early stage. Aimed primarily at high potential employees, whose skills can be developed in a variety of ways and to support their career progression, the Leadership Excellence program promotes a results-oriented working environment in which managers are leading with purpose and are committed to learning and improving. Participants of the recent Leadership Excellence program that took place this summer in Bensheim, Germany shared their experiences with DSU in a video.
Dentsply Sirona’s Women Inspired Network
The Women Inspired Network aims to provide female leaders at all levels of the company with targeted development focused on building competencies that are most critical in supporting the acceleration of their career development.
In 2015, Maureen MacInnis, Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer and Communications, launched a pilot program with 10 women from the Global Headquarters in York to promote gender diversity within the Dentsply Sirona workforce. The program was the beginning of a robust network for women within the organization and a forum to discuss the biggest challenges for women in the workplace. Due to the positive response and success of the pilot, the program was expanded in 2016 and is now known as WIN.
The program supports women through networking, mentoring, training, individual goal planning and execution based on real business opportunities from Dentsply Sirona, as well as the opportunity to interact and engage with the Company’s executive and senior team. WIN now has over 80 members from across the globe with another 28 joining the network this year.
