Divya passes her HR course

1. What was the highlight of the course for you?

To know how well we follow the HR practices and procedures and are we following it in the correct way.
It gave an understanding of the cutting edge functional strategies for handling real-life HR issues.
This course has developed my knowledge base and provided live tools that can be used in the HR workplace.
Helped in upgrading the competence and awareness about the new global HR best practices.

2. What will you do differently now?

Moving forwards I will have a strategic approach while developing HR policies and procedures.
I will work on the ways to maintain and retain the right people in the right job.

3. What was the favorite part of learning HRM?

I would say the case studies and the group discussions. They gave us a chance to express our ideas and learn from others too.
Various workshops and presentations helped us in building our confidence and public speaking skills.

4. What part of your learning can you implement immediately?

Recognise the effective sources of recruitment.
Work on the ways to conduct effective HR audits to make sure the filing systems are up-to-date.
I will add value and innovation to the functions of HR within the organisation.

5. How has this course changed you as a person, what skills do you now taken on?

I am more confident now.
I can communicate more clearly, from HR point of view.
This course has imparted the knowledge, skills and behaviors required to be an effective HR practitioner.

Feruza completes course on Communication

1. What was the key highlight you have learned on your course?

The biggest highlight for me was discovering some skills that I did not know I had before. On the last day of the course we had to act in front of the audience based on the scenarios given by the trainer. It was a competition and surprisingly I was one of the finalists. This experience taught me that it is important to stretch our comfort zones beyond where we are, as that is when you can discover your capabilities. The course also involved a lot of activities where we practiced the principles that we learnt which allowed us to understand them better. All of these helped me build self-confidence as it involved public speaking, working in groups, group debates - where I actively took part.

2. What will you do differently now?

I will express appreciation towards people who I interact with more often, which is one of the principles for enhancing relationships. I will strive to understand first before trying to be understood. I'll also work towards building stronger relationships with people by applying principles learnt in the course.

3. What does Communication mean to you?

Communication is a foundation for building any relationships. The better you can communicate, the better relationships you can build with people.

4. What advise will you give anyone in wanting to improve their communication skills?

Listen. Listening is an indispensable part of communication. We often tend to focus more on our own thoughts that we do not pay attention to what other people have to say. It is important to actively listen in order to understand another person’s perspective. When we give our attention to the person speaking, as well as to the words spoken, we treat that person and his or her feelings with respect.
