Dentsply Sirona at IDS: more successful than ever before
The 38th International Dental Show (IDS) took place in Cologne from 12 to 16 March 2019 and is the most important event in the dental industry. Dentsply Sirona presented groundbreaking innovations to the visitors with several hundred employees at the tradeshow and many interactive elements.
Every two years the dental world goes into a "state of emergency" and Cologne becomes an international meeting place for the dental industry, the dental trade, dentists and dental technicians. More than 166,000 visitors came from more than 160 countries and set a new record. Dentsply Sirona, the world's largest dental company, was of course represented. The company welcomed its visitors on 2,000 square meters of stand space.
It was the most successful show in the Company's history, and we would like to thank everyone who took part in it!
Inspired by your needs
Under the motto "Inspired by your needs," Dentsply Sirona shared impressive innovations, demonstrated products and solutions in numerous live demos on various stages and offered a mix of training events directly at the booth. Dentsply Sirona also surprised with many interactive experiences such as a "duck hunt," a scan competition, selfie milkshakes and a photo booth that made customers cover stars.
"Our clear focus on the needs of our customers, our willingness to listen and learn, and our efforts to develop products and solutions that drive our customers forward in their daily work have paid off," said Don Casey, CEO of Dentsply Sirona.
The response from both visitors and the media was enormous. No one else’s booths were as busy as Dentsply Sirona’s and no one else had 200 participants attend a press conference at IDS. Indeed, the media was impressed. "Many companies are trying to make progress in the field of digital dentistry, but we can see here: Dentsply Sirona is far ahead," summarized one of the participating journalists.
Our booth at IDS is usually busy but this year it was easy to distinguish colleagues from everyone else thanks to the colorful, branded sneakers worn by our team. Even commuting to the show was an experience as so many people made positive comments about the shoes our team wore and several customers and competitors asked how they could get a pair!
Following the motto "Inspired by your needs," two booths with a total area of around 2,000 square meters invited trade fair visitors to explore and experience the latest innovations, products and solutions.
New standards in digital impressions and filling therapy
Dentsply Sirona's mission is to develop products that are essential to everyday practice and laboratory life, that offer dentists and dental technicians real added value with digital technologies and intelligently improve their daily routines. At the IDS, Dentsply Sirona presented groundbreaking innovations for this purpose. One of them generated enormous interest at the show: Primescan. The new intraoral scanner brings digital impression taking to a completely new level. Upper and lower jaw impressions are easier, faster and above all more accurate than ever before. The resulting 3D model is then available for many other workflows, such as the fully digital production of SureSmile Aligners for correcting tooth misalignments. For this purpose, the scan is linked to 2D X-ray data and a patient image.
Our new materials offer solutions for filling therapy, endodontics and digital dental technology. As a result, we expect a reduction in treatment time and improved patient satisfaction.
For restorative dentistry, Dentsply Sirona presented Cercon xt ML, a multilayer zirconium oxide with a natural shade flow thanks to different layers, which enables high aesthetics even without staining. A real coup was also achieved through the development of Surefil one, an innovative filling concept for the posterior region. It combines the simplicity of a glass ionomer with the durability of classic composites and good aesthetics.
Digital technologies will continue to change dentistry significantly. We were pioneers in this field more than 30 years ago, we are now the clear market leader and we are continuing to be innovation drivers in this field.
The new concept for endodontics is also trend-setting: TruNatomy benefits from Dentsply Sirona's 130 years of experience in the manufacture of files such as the ProTaper or WaveOne Gold families. The TruNatomy range combines Swiss precision and advanced technology, offering physicians a solution that offers efficient performance and more respect for tooth anatomy, combined with a terrific user experience. This is also a keyword for the two innovations that were presented to a professional audience from the Implants business. The conometric concept Acuris uses friction instead of screws or cement to secure the crowns to the abutment. The solution is fixed for the patient, but removable for the dentist. Azento, in turn, makes implant treatment a clean workflow in which the operator can concentrate fully on his/her work, as the all-in-one package includes all the components and instruments required for implant treatment.
Our customers of Treatment Centers, Imaging and Instruments rely on high-quality functionality and user-friendliness as well as the latest technologies – both of which we once again demonstrated at the IDS.
With the new "Orthophos family," Dentsply Sirona is making extraoral X-ray even more practical. Every user, whether a generalist or a specialist, will find the right model with the latest X-ray technology.
"The feedback from our customers has confirmed that our dedicated team has worked on the 'right' product solutions that make a real difference in everyday practice,” Casey reflected. "It was also impressive to see how much the Dentsply Sirona team has grown together – visually expressed by our IDS sneakers."
Exhibition booths as a special experience
As the world's largest dental company, Dentsply Sirona impressed with its innovations. These were presented in a very unique way in two halls and attracted a lot of attention. In daily live demonstrations, Dentsply Sirona shared the latest dental solutions and innovations to the visitors. Innumerable dentists and dental technicians took part in advanced training events directly at the exhibition booths. In addition to the press conference, media representatives were also able to attend product workshops in order to delve deeper into the respective subject matter – a truly unique opportunity for journalists at the trade fair.
Our long-term, documented implant systems and the innovative solutions we develop, such as Acuris and Azento, really make the difference to dental professionals.
The survey "1 profession. 1,000 jobs" took place directly at the exhibition booths to find out what additional challenges dentists and dental technicians need to master in their daily work. The Dentsply Sirona rubber ducks became a real attraction, symbolizing a business area and presented to the visitors as a thank you for their interest. Azento Milkshakes with a selfie printed on top of the cream topping, and the photo booth, where visitors could create a personal cover of the current design magazine "trenDS," provided additional fun at the exhibition booth. A real eye-catcher were the Dentsply Sirona branded sneakers, which were worn by all employees at the booth and made them visible from the distance.
The fact that this IDS was so impressive, inspiring and above all successful is due to the great commitment and team spirit of all employees. Dentsply Sirona has left its mark on this event and once again underlined its market leadership.
It was impressive to be part of the IDS with so many colleagues from all over the world presenting our new products. The booths were always packed with visitors from all nations and we were right in the middle of it. I could really feel that we are part of something special and that our customers perceive us that way. I will take that sensation with me.
