Ramadan Sharing Fridges
“Never put away a good thought. Action it immediately because you never know it could well turn into a massive initiative”. Dutch expat Fikra Yel had a thought of sharing her fridge to workers in the community where she lived, providing food and water. This was four years ago.
Today her thought has turned into a vision. Her initiative – Ramadan Sharing Fridges - is a registered entity under the umbrella of Red Crescent. And from one fridge, the tally now reads a staggering 202 refrigerators placed across various locations in Dubai.
The Ramadan Sharing fridges are about extending your home to the less fortunate and inviting your neighbours and community members to share food/drinks with our community workers. It’s about demonstrating that a small act of kindness can have a positive effect on other people’s life both during and beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
The employees of Dubai office participated in this great initiative this year by visiting a fridge in the nearby areas and supporting this initiative by stocking it up with soft drinks, fresh fruits, laban, fruit juices, biscuits etc. to help our community workers and labourers to have access to free food and drinks during the month of Ramadan.
The Google map for the Ramadan fridges available in Dubai was shared with all the employees based in the UAE. It is amazing to pass by the local fridges and witness the happiness the donations will spread.
Sharing is caring, especially in the communities we do business in.
